Who makes Cub Cadet?

MTD was part owner of Cub even when IH owned them....MTD acquired the balance back in the 80's

This thread sounds like its turning into a Cub bash. I have heard nothing but real good things about the new (this year released) 5000 series. The diesel 5254D is still way less than the Massey. I have Cub 3000 series, and its working perfect so far...I havent heard of complaints on the 3000 series (garden tractors) but I guess some do exist (Like other mfg. dont get complaints?)...
overall a solid machine....Cub now makes all their machines up into the 7534 (with CAT diesel), then its Mits and Kioti for the 7500 and 8000 series..

No Cub bashing from me as I think they are excellent tractor. It's just too bad it took them so long to get the 5000 series out to market. It is well built and a good value due to its number of configurations that the big 3 don't offer.

The Cub 5234D is diesel powered, hydro and 4wd. The list price is $9699 per the Cub website. I bought a 5234D last month for $9700 with a 60" MMM. It's been a great machine so far.

DUC - MTD had NOTHING to do with Cub Cadet until 1980/1981 when MTD bought the Cub Cadet L&G tractor line from IHC. They formed a company called "Cub Cadet Corp" or as the logo & serial # plates showed "CCC" . The tractors remained basically as IHC had built them for many years, until about 1989 I think.... MTD Fixed some things IH never got quite right, and MTD also cheapened them up. Not really up on the NEW Cub Cadets...... I'm still trying to wear out My 1968 #72, 1972 #129 & 1980 #982. I see the new ones in My dealer's showroom when I go in every spring to buy two Hydro filters and a belt or two....

they had an ownership stake in the company, prior to their full ownership in 1980...
