I'm in need of some heavy duty - durable work gloves. I know .....real mean don't......blah blah blah /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But...I have been getting poor durability out of recent glove purchases. I had a pair of Ranchworx by IronClad that wore well, but the fingers wore through in a fairly short time. I recently got a pir of SUG gloves by Wells Lamont...same deal, but in a matter of days.

I'm looking for a comfortable, lightweight glove that will allow enough dexterity to operate the switches on the tractor while affording minimal protection. I don't need a welder's glove !! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm in the middle of a home addition and I need a glove to use while handling materials. My hands aren't as resistant to injury as they once were.

Anybody have any recommendations ??

I'm in the same boat as you tc. Find myself wearing gloves much more often lately than ever before. Must be an aging thing /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've been buying the multi-packs of leather work gloves from Menards. Three pair for five bucks maybe? They don't last long but it's nice tossing the shot pair and putting on a nice fresh pair. Depending on what I'm doing, they may last only a week but usually a couple of months. Might not give you quite the dexterity you're after but it's cheap enough to try /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've had a pair of these for winter for over 5 years and the lining is just starting to pull away inside. I wear them every day that it is cold, which is probably from December to March each year.

And I have a pair of these for summer that I can't remember how old they are.

I always liked White Mule............used them for line work mostly but they wear like iron. Here is a link White Mules

I'll second the cheap multi-pack approach. It bother's me less to trash them than if I had spent more money on them. The other benefit is that you can always grab another pair if one pair is wet and dirty. I use cheap cotton glove liners in the winter with the same philosophy - toss em when they're trashed.

I received a pair of these for Christmas.

So far (although it's only been 3 months), they work very well. I have several pair of the more traditional work gloves but find the fit/comfort of these to be much better. They're almost like wearing driving gloves but can take a decent amount of abuse.

They're expensive, (but what ISN'T these days) but the best gloves I've found are Carhardtt leather. They fit my (rather wide) hand better than any I've found. They hold up well. And getting them wet, then drying them out doesn't make 'em stiff as a board like SOME leather gloves. I bought 2 pair a couple years back. The thought was that 2 pair SHOULD get me through a winter. I'm still wearing pair #1. Second pair is still new and unused. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I saw the first pair (for me anyway) of Carhardtt work boots. Look like good stuff. I'm their best customer! Socks, gloves, shirts (tee's and button-up) pants, jacket(s), coveralls, over-alls, hats, sweatshirts, thermal underwear..... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm waiting for them to start making thongs... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Good friend who does a lot of firewood (wears gloves out fast) says he gets the best wear out of some from Harbor Frieght.

I often just buy the brown jersey cotton gloves, and get good wear out of them, compared to the leather ones. If leather, I get the deer skin, and find they seem to last the longest on firewood. But I know I don't keep a very accurate record as to how much actual time per pair of gloves. Seems when I get them comfortable they show up with a hole that lets the sawdust in, and I then go looking for another 'comfortable' pair.
