who makes rural king's 15w40 oil? it's way cheaper than even walmart...

that's my point.. it may be a win 8 phone incompatibility wiht the board software. Has to be something about the interface. my win8rt tablets have no problem posting, and they use the same pop up keyboard. my surfa e needs wifi.. so it stays at work. my nokia 2520 is 4ltegbb.. but the wife has posession of that 99.9% of the time.. so it's the phone for me unless i'm near wifi.. then it's the surface tablet.

Rural King has great deals in my view and I rarely go in a TSC anymore. You can sign up for their sales fliers online.
Recently they had Mobil 15-40 dino in a 5 gallon bucket for the regular price of $59.95, BUT you got a mail in rebate form for a $25 rebate on the bucket. Great deal on great oil and limit one rebate to a customer.

TSC still ticks me off in that it's hard to find anything actually related to tractors and such anymore. And when you do find something, like a hitch pin, it's priced right to the moon. Rural King actually has cultivator sweeps--several kinds--hydraulic stuff, odd bolts, etc, etc, etc.

Just my two cents here.

Because its a commodity Oil - Oil that is of equal value to a consumer no matter what company produces and markets it, and as such, is available at any discount with little differentiation among brands.

Made by the lowest bidder, and like almost everything manufactured by a low bidder, short cuts are taken in order to meet the low price.

Yes and no. Warren Unilube is a big packager. They are credible and aren't going to cut corners to the point of putting out a non spec product at Rural King or anywhere else.
Retailers have different strategies and do different things to meet their objectives.
Motor oil is a "bread and milk" category for many classes of retail. If Rural King wants to drive traffic one way to do it is a blowout on an item that will make you come there instead of any other alternative (ie WalMart, TSC etc.). Private label oil is a perfect example.

Also, believe me or not, but I would be willing to make a hefty wager that all of sales of the branded products (Rotella, Delo, whatever else was on the shelf) of the same weight and type oil that was on sale went up as well.

it might be a joke to you, but to folks like me don't have a choice so tsc is only store we can go to for generic tractor/farm stuff.

Same here. For some reason northern New England is the last place the chains seem to go, not sure why. We have Agway, but they seem more interested in carrying dog toys than anything useful. TSC is about our only choice too.

about 12-14 years ago Quality farm and country showed up to compete with TSC which is all we have for those type stores...they lasted maybe 18 months and all the ones around ffolded up?
