Has a japanese off road truck ever been considered? There are 4 door versions that would comfortably carry 4 adults and lift kits can increase clearance to 9-10 inches. They weigh in at ~1500 lbs and can tow about the same. Their cost is reasonable also.
Steve

The answer is yes, I did think of them but for me parts are much easier to get for the UTV's.

i just want to say that the rtv 1100 has exceeded my expectations. i didn't think the a/c in it would be strong enough to cool the cab if the weather really turned hot. the heat wave in tennessee has broken many records. we have had several days in a row with temps in the 102-107 range.the a/c has worked great.can't leave it on high cool it gets so cold.plan to use it next weekend as an a/c dove blind.i left a few patches of corn to park it in on the wheat fields.

all you rtv owners out there whats the deepest and thickest mudd you put your rtv in and can you post a picture of it in it. reason being that a/c in the 1100 is looking pretty good to me. but i go into some deep stuff with my hpx i'm gonna be upgrading by next year and was just wondering what this thing could do .

The only downside to an 1100 (aside from the lack of open air feeling) is the price.. Oh yeah I guess I would be worried about breaking the glass through trees as well. But I can dream of a/c!!!

yea i like the open air . but one days when it's hitting 104 with a index of 115 and the humidity is 400.000% lol that a/c would be nice. as for as the winshield goes . i manicure the trails with snips so trees hitting the glass in no problem. i was just wondering about the mud situation.my hpx takes water 3"to4"above the floor plates and mud well as long as there is a bottom i can go through it unless it gets in my clutch enclosure but sometimes i block it off for quik deeper slushy mud riding. but how high of water can the rtv cross?

You seen the air cleaner relocator they got ? I'm assuming it's the only thing that needs to be above water and it's ontop of the roll cage with the relocator. Is that deep enough ? :D

Pretty sure it is. The hydrostatic trans doesn't have that belt drive like we do or anything. I think it's more like a car trans then ours.

I have a RTV myself, and plan on adding another in the next few months, but this one will be the 1100 series, I purchased mine in feb,2007, right before they released the 1100 w/ ac..... My wife is wanting one for herself, so I thought I'd get her the other model with a/c ~~

As far as the RTV going >>> it will go in places that would blow your mind.
Lot of folks down the RTV for lack of speed. And they are right, it is not fast, neither is a Cat D-8 Dozer, BUT, THIS IS A POWER WAGON, NOT A RACE HORSE . And on mine, I have the High Air Intake, which I can go in water up to my eyes if I want to. Have Big 27" 589's ITP's. That will pull there butt off ......
I have a post, on Compact Tractor Review - ATV vs. RTV
that tells my belief on the RTV vs. ATV ~~~~
Get a chance, read a batch of 'em post, you will learn alot about the RTV.
I myself, will never have nothing but a RTV, ever ~~ That machine is amazing.
