Nope, you can thank all the over paid UNION teachers for poor grammar, misspellings. You know the same useless UNION moron workers who get paid to do nothing at General Motors, Post Office, Every School in the USA. Ya the same Pervert teachers the Unions force school districts to keep on staff. They don't get paid to teach, they just get paid to fake test scores across the Country. That's why our students rank ........"In mathematics, 29 nations and other jurisdictions outperformed the United States by a statistically significant margin.
The top overall scores came from Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Macao and Japan, followed by Lichtenstein, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Estonia.
YEP let's be proud of our UNION TEACHERS.

Where did we rank, the U.S. was slotted between the Slovak Republic and Lithuania in the overall results, two spots behind Russia.

Come on boys tell me again HOW proud you are of the amazing UNION workers. Let's see how much stupidity ( did i spell that correctly? ) we can garner for the worst education ranking ON THE ENTIRE PLANET .

WOOT WOOT - cmon show me some fist pumps boys.

Yeah - thanks for the broad-brush kind comments. I take your comments as a personal insult. I've never worked one day under the umbrella of The Union. But I will tell you that when growing up if it were not for the Union whipping the greedy management into paying a fair wage for a fair day's work, we would not have had food on the table. That's a simple fact - not an exaggeration! My Dad worked as a Union Carpenter for 40 years. My daughter is a teacher and has worked in the Teachers' Union for 22 years. My son is a Police Officer and has worked in the Police Officers' Union for 24 years. So - I do know first hand that "ALL" teachers, carpenters, and police officers are NOT morons.

In fact, just for your info my son and daughter both graduated Magnum Cume Laude. Both are totally dedicated to their jobs and the mission of their field of work. Daughter averages working >12 hours per day tutoring (at no charge), grading papers, writing lesson plans, and trying to teach Algebra to a classrooms of over 30 kids. Yeah - she's paid well for changing test scores (NOT) - about $12.50/hour for "8 hours".

I keep telling my "kids" that there's money to be made for a lot less work - like in management and administration. They understand that completely, but have this personal desire to make this world a better place. Logically, daughter should simply let your kids fail in school until they either quit or get kicked out. Son should let the criminals do their thing - then we could be more like Mexico, Columbia, and any number of other drug lord controlled places.

This little depression (not recession) has allowed management to squeeze the working man down into the gutters. That's going to change if they don't come around and pay a decent wage for decent work. Trust me - the "Union" is not going to protect those that are not qualified.

Back on the topic - I recently tried to buy locally a pair of American made work shoes. They were not to be had! Red Wing has in the past been all Made In America. No more... only the top of the line $300 boots are made in the US. Thourogood (sp) were also supposed to be made in the US, but I could not find a store that sold them. The only thing I could find was made in China, Pakistan, India, etc. So I did not buy any - not yet.

You can blame the Union all you want but the fact is that we've moved all of our manufacturing out of the US is because top management, i.e. shareholders got greedy and damned be the workers. What goes around, comes around. Unions are almost nil in the US - but you can expect it to return to popularity if things don't change.

I've been in the Union nearly 18 years, my father, grandfather and great grandfather were also Union members. Cat driver simply breeds ignorance and negativity. Earlier in the thread he displayed this. He doesn't list his location or much else about himself. I guess the possibility is there that he's a disgruntled sweat shop worker himself living in a third world country and if that's the case I understand his malcontent. Maybe he herds bands of feral cats to market, I simply don't know.

It's frustrating not being able to purchase more Made in USA product. I blame corporate greed for that.

Picked up a pair of LL Bean Katahdin Iron Worksョ Engineer Boots, Plain-Toe in cordovan leather. They're handcrafted in the USA of American materials by Chippewa. They're regularly $220, but got them for $149.00 at the LL Bean Outlet. Real nice and comfortable. I've always had Red Wings, but figured I'd try them, can't beat LL Bean guarantee.

Picked up a nice new 80s vintage set of Craftsman USA swivel sockets on eBay and a pair of Petersen 12LC vice grips. Also grabbed a nice vintage pair of HK Porter No 2 bolt cutters in great shape and no nicks on the cutters. Made in USA shopping used, but it'll do.

That's a great score, and you saved a lot of gas not driving to auctions/flea markets

Do any of you guys seek out quality US made products on the second hand market?

You bet! Quality tools usually have a life time warranty. I always am looking for a good deal on "stuff" not junk. A couple days ago I found (2) new in box "Giant" pencil sharpeners in my grandmothers old things. My Grandmother was and wife currently is a elementary school teacher, and with little kids these are a treasured find.

I always look for made in the USA for everything, the problem is replacement parts for second hand products. My pruning loppers made in the USA after 30 years the handle broke and none I could find to replace so a hickory tree was sacrificed. They work again good as new.

I always look myself, I have an affinity for good condition older US made products, it's a shame that when my kids are grown up the US made finds will be far and few between unless we see a major change.
