I’m starting to get nostalgic for another bike. Been looking at older enduros and trail/street bikes for running between farms. There’s some really cool retro stuff out there.
I might pick something up over the winter and see if it works instead of bugging my wife & kids for rides constantly.

That sounds like a worthwhile/fun Winter project

Vintage project - me, it probably would have been a DR650, partly because of the vast aftermarket support. (Not hating on the other options.... there are plenty of good ones out there ).

Yesterday the T7 was reaching the limit of its conform zone, It was running hot in these roads, crazy how much these roads grew in within the last few years... My tire is getting scary, I got no grip.

Be safe out there...... you have a little room on those trails, but we all know.... it's often the stupidest little thing, that takes us down....

That last line ^..... ironic, how many times the lessons from MC riding really apply to life in general

I wasn’t giving her that hard in these roads for that reason plus some of them was my first time going in so you never know what you are going to encounter… thank for the concern, and for sure.

Be safe out there...... you have a little room on those trails, but we all know.... it's often the stupidest little thing, that takes us down....

Heck, those are wide two-track trails!

We race on trails commonly routed between trees 30” apart.

yeah it gets pretty narrow when you meet a truck.

Hard to go wrong with a older Honda XL/XR, Suzuki DR/DRZ, Kawa KLR/KLX or Yammie XT and cc of your choice.

I'm in the market... for a light weight dual sport... to augment my Big GS Adventure...

Top two contenders:

Honda CRF300L Rally
Kawasaki KLX300

Been watching a ton of YouTube videos on them, they are very close in performance. I do like the Honda's display better, and either bike will have to have suspension upgrades based on my size. I think the Honda is edging out just based on aftermarket support and known quality.

Unfortunately, all I can do is just sit on them, no test rides.

My friend had a KLX300 (with the bigger piston kit) and a CRF250 at different times and I rode both a good bit. Both are great bikes, but you are 100% correct that the Honda has better aftermarket support. We remapped the FI on the CRF and it really woke it up while maintaining reliability.
