Have been riding a bit over 60 years (flying a bit longer). First owned was A10 Super Rocket, raced flat track and speedway, had bike shop (imported Sprite scramblers and ISO speedway bikes), have done the road trips, off road trips, a bit of hill climbing, bit of trials, etc. Still have a pair of KLRs (705 & 727), a KL250G, a Honda Cub, GSXR1000, TT500 and Kaw KZ1000 shafty.

That Guzzi looks fun. How is the vibration? and if the Harley is your vibration standard, think compared to Gold wing instead. LOL.
The Guzzi is fun and has character. Kinda chugs left and right at idle. I always wanted to try one and never had a bike with any sort of storage, so I got the V85TT. Very easy maintenance with shaft drive and the transverse V twin.

Anyone looking for something reliable, inexpensive, and great for gravel roads, check out the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. They just came out with an updated 450 that has twice the HP, so the older 2019-2023 411s are going cheap. (2 to $4,000). Guys ride these really long distances, although pretty slowly. Ha!

Great point.

For anyone interested, who didn't follow that Season, go back to what Itchy Boots (Noraly) did with her ur Himalayan. She put it through way more than most of us would, and it did very well. Only issue she had was frying the clutch disks (whoever put the bar risers on didn't leave enough slack in cable), which lead to an epic rescue of her bike by locals (Iran, IIRC), on a day when everything was closed..... excellent and fast repair done quickly, with total refusal to let her pay for their work.

Simple bike (for today), with a very competent (for it's class) suspension. IIRC, it was Harris in England who designed the suspension for Enfield, intended market being "roads" in the middle of nowhere....

Rgds, D.

I didn’t have to do much to the one I bought. Every modification had been done. Along with all luggage, and crash bars. I did order a taller seat. The bike has a pretty low seat, I’m sure that’s partly why Itchy Boots went with it. I’m also going to try and raise the bars, if I can get enough play in the cables.

I like this one. Years ago, I figured out that it doesn't take a liter plus bike (or more) to travel long distances. I regularly ride my 650 Suzuki long distances. I've been looking at the RE for a few years. I will have to take a look at them next time I make it to the dealership.
