Who rides motorcycles?

We just did a 3500 mile ride last month. MT has great roads but the best scenery is the west side of the state.. a whole lot of nothing going across it....which is good and bad... little to no traffic but it is long and got boring after hours and hours.

I'm only traveling from northern ID to Bozeman and staying north of I-90 before heading south to Yellowstone via northern entrance. I'll cross the Great Plains in southern Colorado and Kansas before reaching the Ozarks. About 800 miles of flat. Not excited about that but will break it up by overnighting in Dodge City where I hope to have a few beers with Wyatt Earp.

Those trials bikes look like fun.

The one posted by CODE54 looks like a 2-stroke, so I imagine it would not be very quiet. Of course, RPM should be much lower than motocross.
Actually, the 2 stroke Trials bikes are very quiet...

They just don't need open exhaust to get max torque...

Have a 1975 BMW R90/6. The right carb was leaking, so replaced the floats and took a 100 mile loop. And the "Brake Failure" light came on, though the brakes still work.

One sweet BMW. When I lived in Alaska, I would go to the BMW dealership at least once a month and drool on the bikes.

My first bike was a 1968 R60US. It was the transition model between the old Earles forks bikes and the /6 series. Great bike. Drove it cross country.

The master cylinder for the front brake is under the fuel tank. It has a switch on it for the dash light if the brake fluid level is low. The contacts on the switch have also been known to short out on the fuel tank, so take a look under there and you'll probably find the problem.

Yes, I like the bike but the under-tank master cylinder models sure seem to have problems. The BPO had it to a dealer a couple times, most recently to have it rebuilt. That fluid went somewhere, I'll look at it and replace the fluid and bleed it.

Hunters is a very small town on the east side of Lake Roosevelt in NE WA state. This pic was taken around 8am when it was 52F. By 11:30 it was 92F.

There once was a big plan to put an M/C track in the Sta Cruz Mtns, not far from Skylonda.
Neighbors resisted, and the developer failed to get use permits.

Were trials bikes also available in 4-stroke?

I had an '81 Yamaha YZ125 back in the early 80s, and it was Loud.

Yep - a two stroke! Mine is fairly quiet, if I repack the exhaust it may knock it down another notch. The good thing is you run low RPMS so that alone keeps the noise down. Honda has a 4 stroke (Montesa) bike - they say it is "different" to ride than the 2 stroke but it wins a TON of events overseas so it certainly has what it takes.

I just wish we had more interest and support in Trials riding here in the US! Fun sport for the young and old and really takes skill and technique to a new level!
