I tried with a couple of 12/7 gell cells. That should be enough current, albeit using cheap skinny chinese clip leads!

I see some of them need 240V, either AC or DC. try AC first, and if it buzzes, use DC, note that the coil would be energized intermittently, not continuously!. personally, I would not want to use a stepping relay that requires over 48V for the coil!. too dangerous!.. I've used 120VDC coil relays for monitoring screen voltage in high power linear tube amplifiers, though. if the screen voltage is lost, it disconnects the screens to protect the tubes..
