Whole thread gone

Ok.. I come in this evening and the whole thread where I was asking how people felt about the slashdot style of self imposed censorship is gone.

I really wasn't bothered by the censorship thing and was simply making a suggestion, but then something like that happens. That is ridiculous guys.. come on... the whole thread? Now I'm a little stoked about it. Censorship blows and is wrong no matter how you look at it.

I know it wasn't me who posted something to get it demolished, but who it was and what they said was irrelevant. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

An entire thread about censorship gets deleted.

You want to know the really interesting part? I made a post defending the nedd for moderation of this board and slamming the lack of censorship at the other tractor board, and someone had the nerve to tell me they didn't like the direction I was taking that thread! To keep peace and harmony, I deleted that post. I then proceeded to leave the house for several hours, and the entire thread was gone when I got home this evening.

Yes.. ironic.

Even given that I had agreed that in its current format some censorship is needed, I challenge any of the moderators to explain why deleting the ENTIRE THREAD versus an offending post was needed.

I dunno. I was one of the last posters around Noon Eastern time, then I went to Okeechobee and didn't check it for 12 hours. Maybe someone posted something in response to me; maybe they didn't like my post. If it was my post, I would have thought I might have heard something about it, but not a word. I guess I won't mention what I had posted for fear it might trigger this thread to be gone!

I hate to say this, but I made a single post to the thread, and then at sometime while I was away today, the thread vanished. My comments were that it isn't detrimental to let people know that there are other tractor sites out there. Now, I realize that it is detrimental to the health of the thread. You might say that I just killed another... and who knows..... possibly this one also.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just in case this happens again, I will make a copy of the thread and store it in my lead lined archive file..... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
