Who\'s Got the Most Acreage?

I was just reading a thread and clicked on jrpoux's profile. He's got . . . egads. . . 6000 acres! (Texas, naturally.) Does anyone have more than that?

The place my Uncle and I own together in Idaho is 38,000 acres. Most of it is rangeland though. Takes 20-40 acres for a cow/calf pair on most of it. Only about 3k of it is tillable. Together all of my family in Idaho and Oregon own well over a 100,000 acres.

Never having seen that kind of ground, I'm afraid I don't understand 20-40 acres for a cow and calf. Is it that sparsely vegetated or is the soil so loose that moving around on it will destroy what existing vegetation there is?

6000 acres up in these parts almost equal two country towns.

I bet one doesn't have to worry about to many zoning laws down there in Texas w/that much land /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif like up here. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I only have 155 acres here in the Green Mountains, but with all the springs, ponds, creeks, wildlife and that gorgeous hardwood forest I can't imagine living anywhere else.
