Who's lifted the biggest load? :) KL-401 or other?

The OP asked me to post this here.... so here goes.

I had 35 - 3cu ft bundles of top soil delivered today. didnt think about them being very heavy until i went to offload the pallet. The rear end of the tractor started to come off the ground.

So being the nosy person i am, i looked at the bags ... however they did not list a net weight. So i got out my large material scale and weighed 3 bags.

61#
63#
63#

so if i average the load at 62# times 35 bags = 2170 # plus maybe 40# for the pallet and the forks weigh 400 # according to the manufacturers site.

grand total (best as i can tell) = 2,610#.

mind you i had to put the chipper on the back end to help keep the rear wheels on the ground, but dang if this tractor didnt lift what it says it can lift in the advertising. And it lifted it off of a flatbed trailer so it didnt just lift it off of the ground.

GR, that's quite a load. I met my match the other day on 12" cinder blocks. My neighbor needed 3 pallets of them moved. They were stacked 4 - 12 block rows and at 48 lbs a piece that's 2,304lbs, plus the pallet plus the fork weight......so 2744-ish. I could not lift them at all. Even after taking off a row I could barely get them off the ground, so we had to remove another half a row. The ground was very uneven and the BB on the back was not enough....very tippy...no like-eee.

I have kinda wondered about some of these load you guys are lifting with the KL401. My DK35se has about 1300 lbs less lift ability, and I have lifted some rocks on my forks that were at the limit of my ability, and they seemed like a lot of weight out there, let alone adding 1300 lbs more. I know the DK40 and up have bigger tires, and a stonger front axle, but overall the larger models weigh just a little more than mine. I was thinking you could get yourself in trouble if you were not on flat ground.

Had that feeling before. You start grabbing at the seat and it's not with your hands! :ashamed:

Yep!

I always keep my hand on the loader control. When the "sccchhhpinkter meter" sounds, I slam the loader lever forward, dropping the load on the ground. It has save me more then once from going horizontal:thumbsup:.

I find with the 1000lb box blade on, the loader isn't too scary, but you still have to watch things like bucket height on sidehills as lifting a heaping bucket of gravel isn't hard to do and feels easy enough. But equating low loader "effort" with stabilty isn't a good idea.
I suspect your tractor is a bit more idiot proof but I think it has a greater proportion of breakout force compared to lift at maximum height than the 401 loader so you maybe lifting far more than you think.
You probably never have any breakout problems digging in disturbed dirt or gravel except if you try and lift the whole pile from the bottom? Thats the same as the 401 loader.

Here's a few pics of biggest lift so far. I could only lift one end at a time though!

Yes lifting a full bucket of gravel (66 inch though instead of 72) feels easy and yes the breakout is good on the KL351.. it is also very fast. (smaller cylinders) It definitely has more lift than my Kubota L3400HST with La463 loader had, and it was no slouch. I am darn glad the tires are bigger and hold more fluid and the extra 1066 lbs in cast iron doesn't hurt either when I tie into some of those big rocks with the forks. I was just thinking you need to be more carefull with the KL401, and keep it properly ballasted to not get yourself in trouble.. and by the way that rock is TOO big for your loader:laughing::laughing:

A friend is a sales guy at a green dealership. He says Kioti sucks. I think he's just mad I didn't buy something green from him. Lol
I think your friend is just mad. I've always wanted a green machine but when the time finally came for me to get a brand new tractor, the 40hp JD just couldn't match up. The comparable tractors were 1,000 lbs lighter, lifted 1300 lbs, had much lower hydraulic flow and less hitch lift capacity. It did have a wet clutch instead of the Kioti dry clutch. Oh and no extendable lower links and rear remotes are like $400 more as are the R$ tires. All in it was like $5,000 for less tractor.

The guy at the green dealer is just wishing he could sell Kioti orange and buy a Kioti for himself, and envies you and all of us.
