Why are manuals not available for free download?

When I bought my BH the owners manual had been wet and was in poor condition. I was whining about that to the dealer, he said I could go to Landpride's site and download the manual. I did that and it printed out perfectly.
So, I agree, Owners Manuals should be available for most anything. Service manuals are a much different document. I would like to have one but would expect to pay for such a thing.

Just venting...in this day and age Kubota should make them avaiable free online as a .pdf file. They only afre of use to those who already own their products after all.

Aw c'mon guys,

Kubota gives the first owner an operator's manual and that is enough.

If the tractor is resold, the manuals should go with it and not end up buried in a filing cabinet.

Besides, this is another sale at your Kubota dealer's part counter - do you give away what you do at your work for free? I don't think so!

You can get the parts manual free of charge at TractorSmart.com is your online source for Kubota online parts.. Just enter the site, click on manuals, fill out the request and wait a day or two.

Well, when I got my tractor, loader, and tiller (all Kubota), I didn't get a tiller manual. When I called to ask about it, they told me how much a new one was. I explained that I didn't get one with the purchase, and after they looked into it... they were all outside with the attachments, soaking wet.

Since they hadn't bothered to prep the tiller for sale (no oil at all), I demanded a free manual so I could do it for them. And they expected me to drive 70 miles to pick it up. I managed to convince them to mail it to me.

So, yup, Kubota gives a free manual with every purchase. Getting it from the dealer is hard to do. Most everything sold today has a PDF manual online for you to read before purchase. I bought the service manuals, and I buy only Kubota oil and parts, but I expect owner's and parts manuals for free.
