Why are manuals not available for free download?

I have electronic illustrated parts list docs for the bx2200, la211 fel, 54 mmm and 60 mmm if anyone needs them. I downloaded them from the internet, but I had some difficulty finding them.

Very good manuals, very cheap. I paid $10 for a 480 page WSM for my Kubota RTV.

Does anyone have a .pdf of the Kubota B3000HSDCC Workshop Manual? I paid Messick's (over $100., IIRC?) for a hard copy, but did not receive a .pdf copy, which would make searching SO much easier--especially since I find the way the manual is organized to be somewhat confusing. So I'm not trying to "steal" a manual--I just feel that, having paid for the hard copy (and the shipping for same) we should have access to a .pdf copy as well. Thanks in advance/rant over.

I do not remember if it was on this forum, or another, but I have said in the past, when it comes to owners manuals, OEM's should take a page out of companies like Ruger and others, who will provide an owners manual to anyone who purchases a firearm, regardless of condition, just for the asking. It is often a PDF file, but could be printed. The reasoning is simple. SAFETY. The owners manual normally will include all aspects of using the device, including any cautions or warnings. Ruger goes as far as imprinting this information on the firearm!

Wow--that is impressive! We have a few Ruger 10/22's ourselves--I will check them out for that warning, next time, myself. And YES--I could not agree with you more, on the SAFETY aspects of OEMs providing free manuals!

While I am not sure exactly when Ruger started to mark firearms that way, I do know for a fact that it was prior to 1982 , so that means over 40 years ago. I do know that Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt, Marlin, Remington, Springfield Armory, Thompson Center, Winchester, and others allow you to download some manuals, when available. You may be able to find others if you search enough. And in this day and age, scanning to PDF and saving a file is the norm. SAFETY is a common sense issue. Edit corrected Ruger date ((changed from 1993)).

Haven't read the whole thread.... Deer DOES provide an owner manual with their products. It's also available for free download too.
Comprehensive Service manuals are available for a cost.
