Why are we still using ethanol?

When you have a crew out building fences that you bid, do you want them fooling with a chain saw that wont run, or do you want them working?
I don't want them spending $20 a gallon for fuel that they can get for $2.89 at the time of the posting in 2018.

It didn't cost maybe .50 cents more per 5 gallons. That's why I made it myself. I have never bought the metal cans of pre mix fuel. And if you have a crew working 50-100 miles away, you can't afford any goofing around because your equipment don't run. You lose your butt on a few jobs, that expensive fuel becomes cheap.

How much does it cost you to drive 100 miles, take them another saw, get that one fixed, whatever.

See, I cut all that unnecessary crap out and ended up working less and making more money. Getting home from a not so aggravating day.

So..... because you use $25/Gal premix fuel you have NEVER had a saw go down in the field?

What makes you think if you mix fuel yourself according to the directions you will have a failure?
Why is it that tens of thousands of saws using hand mixed fuel run just fine EVERYDAY?

I sent ten crews out every day. Just you, you might not have much problem. But you go cleaning pipe line and power line right of ways and you'll learn real quick or stay home.

I've had broke crankshaft and bent bars but cutting out the fuel problem got rid of a lot of headache. And. I said I never bought pre mixed fuel. I made my own, 50 gallons at a time. 50 gallons would do one day. Sent that mix out once a week. I say each 5 gallons cost me an extra dollar. I buy non E gas and I had to add oil either way, so I don't count oil. Problem is alcohol separates from gas. In a vehicle it has a fuel pump that moves 60 gal per min and keeps it in suspension. On small engines it ain't that way. Sure IV used ethanol for 20 years in my lawn mower, but that's only me. Sending small engines out with a crew...no.

I never ever said I used 25 buck a gallon fuel. I dont know why you keep saying that.

Probably because of post 197. The way it reads, you're in favor of $5 a quart fuel for fence line crews.

Maybe that wasn't the intention, however, that's the way it reads.

I'm not the only one working there. Yes I do re fill the empty cans with my blend. Some of the others buy that canned type. They buy because they have learned. We build pipe fences, metal buildings, clear land, whatever. Yes some of the others do buy pre mixed in the gallon metal square or rectangle cans. I have never bought it. We run two skid steers with Bush Hog, mulcher, forks, grapple, bucket, hay spear for each. One big trac hoe, d6 dozer, telehandler, welding trucks, just a lot of stuff. I have plenty to maintain besides driving 100 miles because Pedro cant get the chain saw to go.
