I'm not as familiar with NH as with some of the other
models. I'm in the research mode, so it will be awhile before I buy. My perception is that NH gets an
A+ for style points, not sure on the mechanical advantages/differences etc. yet.

I've broadened my pallet to include the BX-1800, 2200 and B7500 and B2410 as considerations.

In the green camp 4010, 4110, 4115.

I'm anxious to learn more about the blue team! Why do folks choose blue?

The New Holland TC21D that I bought was used, but price for New Holland is in the middle of the pack. Kubota 7500 is a bit cheaper for close to the same options, the JD 4100 was about $1000 more expensive(no 10 series at the time), and the Cub Cadet 7205 was close to $2000 higher. All these tractors were between 20 and 21 HP. The Kubota had 2 concerns for me, first the operation was not as nice as the NH or CC. Second was the dealer was not as helpful, and had a bit of a bad name in this area. The JD was nice but was a bit smaller weight wise, and frame wise. The New Holland tractor just fit at that point. And when I found a TC21D for $2500 off the price of new, for a 92 hr old tractor with a FEL, and MMM, I jumped at it. The new JD, and Cub Cadets were a year away then. I hope I helped you. Let me know if you need any more info. Kent

PS The Boomer is the best looking tractor out there. My Opinion.

I bought blue because I believe that the more simple something is the better it is. Less things to go wrong. I looked at NH, Kub, Deere, and MF. The NH seemed to be beefier and simpler. (if that is a word) Less frills, I did not get the deluxe model.

If you ever get a loader the sloped hood alows you to see all the way across the bucket when it is all the way down. Great visibility.

These are just my opinions and you know about those.

I know all dealers are different but the JD and Kubota dealers around here were 2 and 3k higher for comparable tractor. With that much difference I did not see any reason to talk to them any further.

I liked the styling, features and price. I looked at JD 4100 and Kub 7500 and I'm sure I would have been happy with either, but settled on TC 21 D. It has always amazed me why someone actually buys a particular brand and some of the reasons. In all honesty the real reason was my wife said she liked the color BLUE!!!!!

As for why I went Blue, my comments echo the previous posts. A couple of other things which came in to play for me was that deck area had a bit more room for me as I no longer fit into skinny or lanky category. Other factor was that the NH dealer and I fit. Was much more helpful during the whole process to me. Of the Orange, Blue and Green dealers I spoke to, he was also the only one that did not bash the other brands I was considering....small thing I know, but made points with me. Comment he made which stuck with me was, "Orange, Green and Blue all made good products and it came down to which I was most comfortable, BUT he would beat any of their prices when it came down to it".

I've noticed a common thread in the blue section. It appears that the NH dealers are maybe a bit easier to work with than others or it could be that NH owners are just more vocal about good service?

Kevin,

I have a NH and the seller for me was three fold:
1) The dealer was in fact easy to deal with. Much better than the local Kubota. I did not feel like I could trust the local Kubota folks.
2) The JD is unrealistically priced.
3) Drive it. You will see that the functionallity of the NH is better than the competition, at least in the 50-75 HP range.

Just my two cents.... (i.e. you got what you paid for).

Kevin:I hesitate to respond to comments like that since one man's rule is the other's exception. My NH dealer has been superb. I can only relay my experience. The thing I really noticed is that a number of members have posted on how the JD dealers run down the other brands. I saw that too as well as the inflexible pricing. Likewise, my NH dealer was of the opinion that all "colors" were good. He just thought NH offered some attractive features not found on the others. The methods of sale were completely different, and after reading here for awhile, maybe it's that way across the majority of dealers. Hard to make a blanket statement, though.Best Regards,Jay

My experience was similar to Jay's. I have been dealing with John Deere dealers for nearly twenty years when I purchased my first JD garden tractor. My NewHolland dealer had been trying to get me to a different color tractor for about three years. Even though I traded for another Deere each time he remained pleasant and respectful. He didn't attempt to claim that Deere built poor equipment he simply tried to show that NewHolland had the features in a compact utility tractor that I would like. A couple of the Deere dealers were arrogant. They almost laughed when I told them that I had prices on the TC40D. Well, I own (and to a great extent, the bank) a 4 day old TC40D. The one JD dealer that has had most of my business the last ten years was and remains a great guy. His price for a 4400 to 4410 trade was just too much. He understood that the NewHolland dealer's price was attractive. He also realizes that NewHolland builds a nice tractor. It may also have something to do with the fact that he wants to trade my three year old 445 garden tractor for the X595. It might happen. A smart business man/woman knows it never makes sense to irritate your customers. I just not convinced all of the JD dealers agree.

Kevin, I have just gone through the process of trying to decide between blue, orange, or green. Yesterday, I bought a TN75. Now, I'm not sure about other series of tractors, but in this HP range, comparing apples to apples, the JD price was outrageous compared to the NH and the Kubota. If the price was right, I may have bought JD. I just don't know. The JD saleman was a orange and blue basher, and said some things about the orange and blue products that just weren't true.

The Kubota and NH were close to the same price and both the dealers were great. So, it came down to what I thought was a better product. I must say that I was biased toward the Kubota. You just hear about what good machines they are. You never hardly hear anything negative. Kubota have the most loyal owners on this site. However, after talking with both owners, researching the stats, I think the NH is a better tractor than Kubota, at least in this HP range. It's heavier, has far superior hydraulics, greater lift capacity, larger axles, larger operator platform, better controls, and better view over the hood. Also, the resale on NH is as good or better than the Kubota ( in the TN series anyway).

I also visited two dealers who sold both NH and Kubota and asked them which machine to buy. These were dealers 200 miles from my farm and knew that I wasn't buying from them. Both said the NH was a better machine without any pause. I know the NH isn't Ford anymore, but look at all the 3000s and 4000s still running and look at the their resale values. The NH are as good or better than Ford ever was.

Check it out for yourself.
