Used 64" Puma was in the paper last year about this time and the price wasn't too rude. It needed some paint but was solid. Added electric for rotation and up/down. It was fun last Winter!

I talked to the guy with the used Puma again today and he is stuck at 1500. Too much for me for a 8 year or older snowblower. Call me crazy but I thought it was high. He said his phone has been ringing and I bet it has. He has 4 appts. on it tomorrow. He purchased it used also making it tough to tell how old it is. If there is two pieces of equipment that I need to work it is my tractor and my snowblower. The memory of a great price goes out the window when one does not work.

I bought a 1995 Schulte 6200 last summer, $1,000. It was in excellent condition and still had the original shear pins in both the auger and drive shaft. Can't hide that lime green paint. I bought it because it had some of the things that I was looking for, chain driven auger,a minimum 22" fan, and heavily built. I didn't care about remote chute rotation or deflector, I am very handy and took care of that myself. I was worried that the blower was 3" shorter than my tractor width, but I found out that after the first pass, subsequent passes are about 3/4 blower width to avoid wind rowing. Also the gap between the fan and housing was 1/4" to 3/8" and It threw snow further than I expected. This fan to housing gap will only be a problem if the snow is fluid enough to slip through as the fan spins by.
Good luck with your search and acquisition.

I have a schulte 6200 also and chose it because of online reviews and a neighbor of mine had a 7200 on a little bit bigger tractor than mine and really liked it. Mine has been great although I've made major modifications to it. I've been running mine in heavy California snow for 10 years. Another neighbor of mine recently bought a Frontier. I believe they are associated with John Deere. It looked very impressive and well built. If I was in the market it would deserve a strong look.

I purchased a new LandPride 1064 at the Empire Farm Days yesterday. Did get to see quite a few brands there.

I bought a puma 72" blower on the side of the road for $1100. Needed a bit of paint, but all was solid and this included hydraulic chute rotation and hydraulic deflector.

I bought a used 73" Woods from a dealer. The price was good ($1400) and the unit is in excellent condition. Although I wasn't specifically looking for a Woods, my RFM, cutter and chipper/shredder are all Woods brand. All great quality and no complaints.
Back to the 3PH blower: The Woods is built heavy (>700 lbs) and does a great job during our Vermont winters.

One year I got sick and tired of plowing. I spent more time pushing banks back and using a come-a-long to get my truck unstuck than plowing. Then we had over 3 feet of snow one afternoon and I got stuck for the last time. Trying to drag chains around in chest deep snow sucks. After that I ordered a new Kubota and got the front mount blower for it. The ice pick tire chains on the tractor make the chains on the truck look like toys. Never even came close to getting stuck and the snow backs are a thing of the past. I think Rad makes the blowers for Kubota.

X2. I can blow my driveway in 1/2 the time it took me to plow. Snow was always falling out of the wrong side of the plow because the banks were so high. V-bar chains are bad-***** as well. With 8,000 lumens of LED power, I'm all set. =)

I'm living proof that it's better to be lucky than good. All I knew is I wanted a two stage blower at a reasonable price. I bought the first blower I looked at, a Pronovost PUMA 64. It was nearly new, needed absolutely nothing and was a steal at $700.

I have added electric chute rotation and hydraulic spout angle just by kludging things together from what I had laying around. Total investment of about $25.

I would NEVER go back to plowing.

I did wimp out and get a tractor with a cab on it tho.

Snow Blower - $700

Tractor with Cab - $30,000

Not Freezing My Butt Off While Blowing Snow - Priceless!

 :D
