Why do people answer the phone if they are in the middle of something important?

Sigarms, no intent to get anyone so fired up. Not sure what all those things you've done in the past, or weddings, or funerals have to do with answering the phone.

I have caller ID also. That's exactly what I was eluding to, I can answer it if I choose. But I am not obligated to answer it! You said, "If someone calls, answer your phone."

I'd say is someone calls, and I feel like talking to them, or need to talk to them, I'll pick up my phone. Pretty simple. Whether I recognize the caller's name and or number, I answer if and when I choose....not when the phone rings.

And the point of my original post was that if you are already talking to one person, you aren't obligated to answer another call. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but when you don't answer I usually can figure out that you are busy.

Jstpssng, the person I was quoting "Sigarms" is who I was responding to. He stated something I disagree with and stated so.

But in response to your statement, whether I'm talking to someone else or not is irrelevant. It does not mean I am talking to someone else when a call comes in and not answered. It may mean I'm not talking to anyone!

I had a GF that complained of noise from traditional florescent lighting in various stores.

It's the hum of the ballast drives me batty we had a small under counter florescent mounted over the sink. Wife couldn't hear it. And used to leave it on for the grandkids. I could hear the blasted thing in our bedroom on the other end of the house. Was like a cicada buzzing on on the pillow next to me.

I would go get a small bed side lamp and set it up on the counter top for them so I could get some sleep. Swapped it out with a small LED when the price came down on them.

THAT'S why I pick up my phone. There are people who understand that there are people who actually care if they have a issue and they call during "non working hours". I get it, some people do abuse you, and I have no issues dropping them in a heartbeat.

We all have to deal with buttholes in work, but it's nice to know IMO that there are people who aren't buttholes in life, and yes, sometimes you get to work with them.

I am lucky, most of the people I work with fit into that category, if they called in the middle of the night, it would be for a reason and I would go give them a hand if I could.
