For the most part, people like living close to each other. I spent a lot of years flying and it never ceased to amaze me how there is miles of nothingness and then bam, there’s houses, row houses, apartment buildings, bigger buildings and lots of people. People like telling other people what they have to do and how to live. They want sidewalks, street lights and electric cars so you should too.They live where they call a ”guy” to come fix stuff and get ugly when the “guy” doesnt have the parts on hand and the “guy” always charges too much. They dont have a clue where their water comes from or where it goes when they’re done with it. They are 100% positive that anyone that has a truck and tractor is killing their environment. We are the problem, not them.
I try to patronize the local small businesses such as grocery store, hardware store, and small engine and appliance store. The people have the experience and are invested in their store.I recently spent 40 minutes driving to a big box store to get some auto parts, filters, household goods and supplies. I came back with only a headache. The big name store is in a smallish town so the auto parts were marked up higher than what I expected, but hey, I was already there.
It was hard to find the electric razor head I needed and I could not find a single employee to help. I read the package for a while and then a young employee came by and answered "if we have it, it's on the shelf" to each question. Heck, I could work there. When I asked where shop vac filters were, he told me construction and lumber. I knew that was wrong so had him look it up and it was somewhere entirely different. What a confusing mess and it happens more often than not.
So I went home, looked everything up on line and clicked away. My stuff will get here Wednesday, a (probably) nice guy will bring it to the door and I could have saved the wear and tear and gas money on something meaningful like intellectual consciousness
Seriously, why even bother going to brick and mortar stores when we are more knowledgeable than them, when staying home is easier and no driving is required? Are they trying to self destruct?
Isnt this what the new regime wants? Share the wealth amongst all? Shouldnt you be happy to just order up a replacement and not be sad someone has benefitted from your misfortune?
