Twinkle Toes, going to have to come right out and say it.

You are a liar. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well, except about the rain, and the traffic. Ok, and maybe about the prices too but about the people, you are lying. I know many people there and they are some of the kindest most giving people I know. A little moldy but very nice.

I'll tell you this too. I don't care what other people offer for beauty, There is no place on earth that can compare to being on one of the islands, looking out across the sound, watching Orcas frolic in the deep almost black cold water, on a warm August day. Probably as close to paradise as I have ever been. My only beef was with the months of September through June, commonly referred to as the rainy season.

I will say that your comments are reminiscent of some of the other "Native" Northwesterners I have met. Sorry to be the one to tell you this but the population of this earth is growing and they WILL be moving to your neighborhood soon. All you can do is to move to someplace no one wants to go. Maybe Tacoma. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

traffic is terrible, prices are out of sight, full of mean spirted people

Sounds like my hometown just outside of Boston /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.
I fled 12 years ago and only go back to visit Mom.

Now we're kinda remote, but still within a hours drive of civilization ( hospitals etc. ). It's like having the best of both worlds !! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

tell me why you live where you do.
I live in North Central Indiana near South Bend because I was born here. My wife was born here. Our families are buried here and I want to be buried here, too. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The cost of living is very reasonable and for the most part, the people are friendly and nice. To sum it up, I am comfortable here. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

What do you like best?
The change of seasons.

What do you like least?
The breakdown of the American family.

Do you wish you lived somewhere else?
Nope. I can always visit the places where everybody else on TBN lives. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Will you ever move?
Not far, I hope. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Back Home Again In Indiana!

I grew up near central Ma. My 3 acre house lot came from the in-laws. We now also own their old farm circa 1735 and a 36x60 barn with about 7 acres and a 36 acre woodlot across the street. We have very few neighbors and enjoy the peace and tranquility. The rear land is also bordered by resevoir property. This makes for a 300 acre plus big back yard. My daughter will be moving into the old farm once I get it restored and updated.

I was born in the western NC mountains and although moved away when I was small I never got them out of my system. The family was pioneers there and my father was one of the first to pack up and move out. He was in WWII and had seen the world and didn't want to be a tobacco farmer for the rest of his life. Five years ago I bought 35 acres with a cabin right in the middle. Its in a remote area and as my closest neighbor likes to say it isn't handy. I have lived in south GA for over thirty years and it has never really felt like home. Marriage and the job keeps me here except a few long weekends a year that I escape. I hope to retire up there soon. My wife said she didn't know if she would be ready to retire when I can. I told her that I hope she writes.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I grew up in Kansas City but always thought about how nice it would be to live away from any city. Lived all over the world while I was in the Army and toyed with the idea of settling just about everyplace I was ever stationed. Even gave serious consideration to living in Germany.

When I was stationed at Ft Leonard Wood for the second time back in 1989, I found a place to rent a few miles north of there. I really never liked living in government quarters. I was going to live there until I retired and then go wherever I found a job. Really didn't care where.

As luck would have it, a job as a sales rep for a Dallas based company just sort of fell in my lap. They needed a territory manager with a military background in this area so I took it. Then the house I was renting went up for sale, sort of, so I bought it.

And that's why I am here in Missouri.......8 miles from anyplace that can be called a town and 90 miles from the nearest mall. Me and the dogs love it out here.

Yes, I suspect you are right and apologize if I came off snotty. You hit one of my buttons. I need to do a better job of keeping them surge protected.

I do love the Pacific Northwest and I do like the people. I just couldn't cope with the rain anymore.
