Understand that it's not JUST the tractor, but the tractor plus attachments like plows, FELs, etc.

Snow removal from the driveway and the walkways
Driveway maintenance.
Firewood & brush & stump removal.
Rock and boulder moving.
Gardening.
General landscaping.
Lift anything under half a ton without screwing up my back worse than it already is.
Moving home appliances and junk.
Putting the sand buckets on and off the pickup.
This year I used it for chimney cleaning to lift my stuff up to the roof.
Pulled the wife's van out of the ditch. (He he he, I TOLD you we needed a tractor. Faster and cheaper than calling for the wrecker, or breaking my pickup.)
Physical Therapy, Exercise and weight loss ($60 a month for Planet Fitness or The Works adds up quickly.)
Investment. (Tractors depreciate a lot slower than the Fed devalues the dollar.)
Hauling dressed deer out of the woods.
Put in the mailbox stand for everyone on the right of way.

my tractor is my therapist
I'm VP at a manufacturing plant
I think of work when I get up till I go to bed some days
when I need to get the tractor out weather it is to clear snow or bush hog a few acres, by the time I'm done I don't even realize that I have a paying job

clear head and good to go a few more days
that's money in the bank :2cents:

I figure owning a tractor is a bit like owning a motorcycle... if I have to explain it.. you won't understand it.

I have about 2400 feet of dirt road that was neglected by the prior owners and needed grading, not to mention 1.5 miles of dirt road to get to the property. I also have some decent size boulders on the property that needed to be moved.

To clean up just a portion of the road on my property, the cheapest estimate from a contractor was $5K. If I were to pay a tractor operator by the hour (tractor included) price ranged around $85-$95/hr.

I bought my tractor new in 2012 for about $23k with FEL and 60" hydraulic box scraper. I hit 180 hours on the meter this morning. I've graded the existing roads on the property. I've created some new roads. I've moved boulders that couldn't be moved by hand or even dragged with a pick-up truck. I've helped the neighbors grade their dirt driveways. If I were to just take the meter hours put on the tractor at the lower rate of $85/hour, that's $15,300 worth of tractor work. But meter hours are often lower than actual hours, so the value of my use is probably closer to about $18K. And, I still have plenty of projects around the property. I figure the tractor will have easily paid for itself in two years.

Besides, the tractor therapy time is an added bonus.

Before we bought our CUT my wife wondered why we couldn't just spend less money and get a big lawn tractor instead. Now she's the first one to feed branches into the wood chipper after the storms come through. She won't really say it out loud but I think she likes having the 2720 around. I dug and moved about 100 yards of topsoil with the FEL last summer. If I had done that with a shovel and a wheel barrow like I used to I'd be in the hospital.

Buy the best and you'll always be happy with it. I haven't regretted the decision to buy a quality tractor one bit.

Just as the title says. My friends at work are telling me I should sell my tractors because I would have lots of money.

What difference to them is it that you have a tractor or how much money you have or will have?
