IE 7 on three machines also. No problems with any site, business or pleasure.

And I don't even know what they're talking about when they mention "tabs", but I just now downloaded IE 7 so I'll see if it's better or worse, or maybe I'll only see whether I'm better or worse.

I like Tab's. It allows me to have more than one Internet site open without opening up another IE session.

What's the difference between "tabs" and having multiple windows open? Besides the fact that the windows are at the bottom the page and the tabs at the top.:D

May be wrong. But I believe that having multiple windows open requires more memory.

I have both Firefox and IE-7 on my computer. I will switch back and forth but mostly use firefox. I like it's spell check firefox has. But I have had no problems with IE 7 what so ever.

Everybody,

Thanks for your inputs; it either crashes and people never fixed it ,they rolled it back to an earlier version, or it works fine.

I went to Manage Add ons and inactivated a couple of them. And that has not helped either. I am at the point where I am getting pretty good about knowing when it is going to shut down on me. Just before I click on a link I say to myself, "I bet this is going to close the browser' and I'm right most of the time. I ahve a pretty good computer 512 mg of ram and a 100gig hard drive, can't remembe the processor but it is a fast one. So I really don't think it is the hardware. There is something interfering, so cash size of something or other that is jsut closing me down regularly.

I'll keep checking back in case someone has had the same problem as me and has fixed it. I have high hopes that someone around TBN will know how to fix this.

Bird, i wish you well, I hope you fare better than I did. I like the tabbed browsing, it is a lot neater/cleaner than opening a new window. I always used to open jsut about everything in a new window.

Rox, with IE 6, it used to just shut down unexpectedly every once in awhile, but hasn't done it in quite awhile now. And so far, with IE 7, it hasn't happened, but who knows when it might start.

Been using Firefox for about 3 years now & never had any problems opening any sites I've visited. Due to some self-inflicted trouble (adding a 2nd hard drive) I upgraded to Firefox 2.0 & I couldn't be happier. Still has tabs, but I find the built-in spell check MOST helpful. I would highly recommend it for casual browsing (I keep IE6 as a back-up). Try it! I doubt you'll be disappointed. BTW, I just refused the EI7 "upgrade" a couple days ago.

I had the opposite problem with IE...it would START UP on it's own. At that time I was on a dial-up so it didn't connect to the internet without an OK, but it obviously had been corrupted by spyware or something.

IE is the most hacked software out there, simply because most people use it. That alone is reason enough for me to avoid it. Plus, I have yet to encounter a site that Firefox won't open.
