Hi,
I try to plow with my Kubota BX tractor and it is not working. I cant figured out why. The plow is small Sear's plow i got from scrapyard and I did some modification to be able to connect to Kubota PTO system. I try to put different mount but neither original or my modification works. Only touching surface on some occasion going 1-2 inch deep.Is anybody to quide me how to make it works. Thank you.

Your top link is WAY to short, it won't let the hitch go any further down.. You also would need to hold down three point hitch drop lever otherwise it will ride on top of the ground, it's probably not heavy enough to start a furlough depending how hard the ground is..

Yes, your top link is way too short.

With some more mods, you can make a longer top link.

Not trying to be a pessimist, but the first big rock you hit is going to do some damage to that frame. Unless you’re in really nice soil of course. Go slow!

I used to have an old JD 20HP tractor. Implements for it were a mower, a one bottom plow, and spring shank chisel type plow. I tried using the plow. There was enough play in the linkages, the plow moved around and never would do a good furrow.

I tried adding "sweeps" to the spring shake unit. It went into the ground much easier. Of course, it took 3-4 trips over the ground with a rain in between, but the ground was fit to plant after that. I never used the plow again after that.

I'm sure some on here are able to successfully plow with a sub compact, but it's not the best use of the tractor.

Not trying to spend your money , but I had a 54" Bush Hog rotorary tiller on my BX2200 WITH a slip clutch. It would turn any soil nice in one pass.

Good luck.

Yes - make/obtain a longer top link. Be VERY CAREFUL with this implement and your tractor and 3-point arms. You are very, very light duty and could easily bend/break things.

A PTO driven rototiller will function far better and be much easier on your tractor.

Your top link needs to be rigid.

Yep, modify the top link to eliminate that extra linkage between your top link and the plow.

And a properly adjusted plow should be riding parallel with the ground at the bottom of the furrow, not at the surface of the ground. Which would mean the plow point would hit the ground first slightly before the rest of the plow and level off at the bottom of the furrow.
