Why I dont see a tractor in my future

Has the wife considered a job working from home? There are lots of oportunities nowadays using the internet and cell phones to allow one to stay at home and work. My wife works for a local trucking company dispatching and load finding from a small office in our home. This lets her be with our 2 kids and still make a little money. Granted its not a lot but every little bit helps. Just a thought.

My wifes been looking at some of the "work from home" opportunities. There are a TON of scams out there that try to take advantage of women trying to earn something AND raise children. She's finally found something that might work out for us. Like you said, it isn't a lot of money, but it helps add some funds to the "fun money" account. It's more important to us that one of us is raising our children, rather then sending them to a daycare.

Thats the same way we felt too. If she didn't work from home she would still be at home raising the kids, just not getting paid. You miss too much sending them to daycare and you never know what really goes on there every minute of every day. Plus, we live on a small farm so there is always something to be done around the place whether you are getting paid or not.

Your goal should be to love those kids unconditionally. A tractor is just a piece of metal. Kids do so much more than that.

There has been so much great advise here already. You are dead on with your priorities. One of things I noticed you comented on was your 15 year mortgage. That is great, I have seen so many people go into so much debt to make their lives better, easier, more fun, whatever. Often the debt tears them down and makes their life he**. Your doing great!

You have your priorities straight, and that will take you a long way.

I have always dreamed of having property, but had to wait until the kids were grown and gone before we could afford anything more than a 1/4 acre city lot. Then I had to show my wife that 5 acres wasn't half the size of Montana, and we really wanted more.

Bottom line is that I didn't get land or a tractor until I was 60. You are at least 36 years ahead of me on the land, and I bet you will be decades ahead on the tractor too.

Maybe you could get a better paying job?

Nothing like a big raise in salary to help ease the stress levels........other than that, just relax and keep on keepin on, you're doing fine.........

Don't give up the ship. I'm a stay at home Dad and your right money gets tight. Into days world you can't put a price on a happy family. I worked for seven months this year. The family didn't like it at all. When I had to put both boys in daycare this summer I would of ended up making about $90.00 a week. Went back to part time and still am saving the same amount of money.This lets me be at home with the boys for our ninth year. Some years I went part time to get the tax money maybe that's an option.
You can never replace time with family and who better to raise your family then you an your wife. It will get better. Have faith. I say a prayer every day asking for the patience of 10 men because both boys are into the "Why Dad" stage, laundry that never ends and scrubbing bathrooms. Of course all of it can be put aside for a big smile and a "Let's play Dad." Did you know even at 47 Tonka toys are still alot of fun!!
