Got these scraps on nearly every bale knot today. First time baling, just curious if they are preventable? Knots seemed unharmed and bales were fine. New Holland 276 baler and Tytan 9000 sisal. Thank you all for any explanation or suggestions or information! (the silver is tape to hold it together) DSCN1635[1].JPG

Birds love them for their nests. Don't want them. Don't bale

I have a baler that has SIX strings, so I make a LOT of those.

That little 2-4" piece is the loop that is cut off every time a bale is tied off.
New Holland and John Deere are the ones that do it because they use the Deering style knotter. The McCormick knotter doesn’t leave any waste bits.

Twine disks rolling too far so trapped under knotter frame. Or, wiperarm wiper blade not tight against entire billhook face. Bend the wiper arm until it SLIGHTLY clashes.

Candidly, I wasn't aware that anyone used Sisal today. Always ran poly when I had my long gone NH 565. Just the thought of small squares makes me perspire.... :p

When the wiper arm is too tight against the billhook face, bad things also can happen.

Thanks everyone. So they are normal!, but I will check out the cutter blades and wiper arms. i just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I did or did not set up correctly on the baler. I had to re-time it before using it for the first time! It was kind of like a Rube-Goldberg machine to me! Thanks again!
