Why are they all ag type? I watched a few videos of flat face couplers, those things stay cleaner by design, less oil comes out of them when disconnecting, and most important, they seem way easier to connect because the male connect just pops in w/o having to pull back on the retaining ring on the female connect.

Did anybody ever swap theirs for flat face couplers?

Theyre all AG type because theyre cheaper and its assumed you wont be connecting/disconnecting as often as a skid loader, which usually have flat face for all the attachments they change on them.
Lots of people swap to them, but they are more expensive. Not really necessary for less frequent attachment swapping.

John Deere and Kubota both offer unit flat face as an option for some of their loaders. Other manufacturers might too. I don't know.

Have been changing over to flat face connectors for decades. Like them better for FEL 3rd function. Easier to keep clean. They are not easier to connect under pressure. Do require some different techniques and sometimes tools.

Flat face connectors due cost more. They also have longer connected length that has to be considered on SCUTs mounting. Had to 45* the 3rd function connectors on the M59 to clear the grapple.

One mistake I see people making is trying to loosen the coupler from the hose to relieve pressure. It’s a messy 2 wrench job that’s a hassle to do plus it messes up the thread sealer. A much easier method is to move down the line and loosen a JIC going into a cylinder.

What would be really nice is a multi-coupler, a la kubota's setup. That thing is pretty sweet, I gotta say.

You better not be getting old and have FLAT FACE connectors. Sometimes I find it takes every once of energy I have left to connect them.

Well, with every second, getting old[er]! :D
Is it because if the loader sags and pressure builds up, it's harder to relieve as opposed to pressing the nipple against something with ag connectors? Or is it something else? I was under the impression they were easier to connect actually, from some youtube vids I saw.

Seems FF connectors use every excuse in the book to make ones life as difficult as possible. Oh, the temerature has risen ten degrees, I'm not gonna connect today!

I have dozens of the suckers of various makes. Not a one will connect under the "slightest" pressure. Or if having gotten wet or damp and then froze. Maybe I just didn't spend enough. I had a hard time spending the money I did, over Pioneers.

Both my friend and I can attest to the PITA of using flat faced connectors. I have seen him release the pressure and the lines go slack. We switched out to another bucket. He used that one and disconnected it and tried to plug in the previous bucket. No blanking way was that going to plug in. He did release the tractor pressure on the 3rd function lines. We had to break the lines in order to connect up. Talk about a waste of time. I'll stick with my AG fittings.
