Re: Why not a \'big box\' store?

Wait on the LT1046. Try to stay away from the Courage motors if possible.

Two weeks will pass real fast. Wait for the 1046, you won't regret it.

Just out of curiosity, have you seen many issues with the courage series, or is it the lack of real-world data, being they are fairly new?

Re: Why not a \'big box\' store?

Just an FYI guys... the BIG BOX models are not always the same as the dealer models. Even when all the numbers are the same. They do things like use sealed bearings on Big Box models and greaseable ones on dealer models. This is not an across the board thing, it happens on some tractors and snow blowers as well. There are other minor differences as well. I think this is done because they assume that the big box sales are not going to be maintained like the dealer sold tractors... thats my hunch anyway.

Re: Why not a \'big box\' store?

Haven't read some of the post's in this thread.

In many cases the Big Stores set the criteria for the items they sell. These exact units are not available to any one else. This allows the many of the Big Stores to have sales where they indicate they will beat anyones price on the same item. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gentlemen I can promise you that the Cub Cadets that Lowes & TSC sale are the EXACT same as the ones dealers recieve.

Re: Why not a \'big box\' store?

I know what the courage motors are rated to last and how much maintenance is required after only about 500 hours V.I.A Kohler and they are just not a highly desirable motor in my opinion.

Re: Why not a \'big box\' store?

I ordered the 1046 from my local CC dealer today! I also noticed a couple of CC1554's sitting on a trailer out front and I asked him if they were for sale. He told me they were sold by TSC and the new owners were complaining that they were cutting uneven. He said the decks were out of adjustment, they had different air pressure in all the tires, and the toe was not set properly. He told me all these things are perfect on his mowers before he sells them! Anyway, I'm sold on buying from the dealer from now on. Thanks for everyones input.
