As was said, each state has diiferent laws. In Louisiana, a few years ago, the trespassing law was changed. Now, your land does not have to be posted. If you do not own the land or have permission from the owner to be there, YOU ARE TRESPASSING - PERIOD. If it is not yours, DO NOT ENTER.
Also, if a stream/bayou is navagable (you can float a boat) it is not private and the water bottom is state property. The reparian landowner can not stop you from fishing in the stream. But, you can't use or dock, or trespass on his property.

... We bought some peace of mind by adding an umbrella liability policy to our insurance. I think 2m cost us less than $200 per year and covers several properties we have.

A person did not yield at an intersection and hit us a while back. We went back and revisited our insurance. We had great insurance for US if WE were not at fault. The accident could have been much worse. If we had been at fault and the accident had been worse we could have lost everything.

We have an umbrella policy like yours. Cost is about the same as well. Covers me working on the tractor if I am mowing our common road and something bad happens. Just as long as I am not taking money for the work.

I think a few of these:
ATAFA.com: Airsoft M18A1 Claymore Mine

and a couple of good signs...

maybe hook up a motion detector up to it...

:D I can't believe they have stuff like this! I know about Airsoft but I did not know they were making Claymores, mines and grenades! What fun we could have had with this stuff as kids!

About 10 years ago when I lived in the city I came home from dinner with my wife and found an unfamiliar car parked in my driveway. At that time of year there was a street festival nearby and it wasn't uncommon to have cars parked on both sides of the street (illegally) or to have the driveway blocked partially. I usually just dealt with the inconvenience every year but to have someone actually park in my driveway was a bit much.

So my wife went in the house and I proceeded to get my tools from the garage and removed the wheels from the car. I was careful to not damage the wheels and the car was placed gently on blocks. I was simply going to leave the wheels stacked in front of the car with the lugnuts in neat piles of five. Just sending a message (what type of message and what I hoped to accomplish I have no idea.......just spite I suppose).

Just as I put my jack and pneumatic ratchet away and am going into the house I hear someone yelling from the end of my driveway......it's one of my best friends (and his wife) who had decided to park his new car in my driveway to go to the festival. Good times, good times.......

You did tell him that you knew it was him and were simply, as a favor, rotating his tires during their initial 100 mile break in?

Oh I am still a big kid. I refuse to grow up. :D Going to Disney World in less that 60 days. But who is counting!

But I am not sure the other "adults" in the neighborhood would find it fun if I started setting up Claymore and land mines. Some of them are kinda uptight. Course an Airsoft Claymore going off on 'em might loosen them up a bit.....

On the other hand I know the deputy who patrols our neighborhood. I want to stay on his good side. :D:D:D

Deputy Jon, "Dan, do you know anything about an Airsoft Claymore that was set up down by the road?" Dan replied, "I SWEAR it was to scare off the deer!" :D
