I haven't had too many issues on our property that we bought last year. A few neighbors who used to have free reign when the previous owners were here, but it didn't take much more than a hint to keep them off. Anyone that asks is welcome, I just don't take to folks that assume it's theirs. One neighbor in particular decided to drive his golf cart through our trails while we were on vacation one week. He has about 10 acres. If I decided to go drive around on his 10 acres, I have no doubt that he'd have a problem with it, but for some reason in his mind it's ok for him to cruise around on my 110.
Before we bought the place we're on now, my wife and I ran a horse farm for a lady who lived in Germany. It was a total of 370 acres. Mostly pecan farm and had a neighborhood to one side and a pond. She asked me to keep folks off if at all possible. It was a full time job keeping folks out of the pond and kids from riding dirtbikes all over the farm. For the most part the folks fishing were ok with it when I explained that it was private property and pointed out the four signs around the pond. Only a couple who were repeat violators. It was the kids on dirtbikes that were the main issue. I even went to parents, but they didn't care either. One kid I kicked off 3 or 4 times then followed him home and talked to his folks. They kind of blew me off. A week later, we kick the dad off the property while he's riding a dirtbike on the power lines. He had the nerve to argue that power lines were public property. It's no wonder his kid is an idiot.
I don't understand why it's so hard for folks to understand if you don't own it, stay off of it. I'm very glad to be away from there as it actually caused my stress level to rise. Every time I heard a dirtbike, I'd dart outside to listen and see if it was on the farm. It was ridiculous.
One humorous story, I was deer hunting one morning. It was a bit of an impromptu hunt and I was just sitting on the ground leaning against one of the pecan trees at the back of the property. Often deer would come from behind me towards the thick trees in front of me. I heard one coming my way from a long way off as they were very easy to hear with all the leaves on the ground. I decided I'd wait until it was close and get ready to shoot and wait for it to go by me. I hear it turn and start heading to my right so I wait for it to get close then spin around the tree to get a look. It's a jogger. They see me in my orange vest come around the tree with 30.06 in hand and the absolutely SPRINT the rest of the way home. I had to leave cause I couldn't stop laughing at what they must have been thinking. They didn't slow down the rest of the way home.
