Why there is no 22 to buy.

It's against the law to order ammo online in NY so we are held hostage by our local gun shops. They sell all the 22 ammo they can get for highly inflated prices so they love it. Not so good for consumers........still a lot of hoarding going on here on 22 ammo. Center fire ammo has started to loosen up. The good news is there is never anybody at the gun range, so I pretty much have it to myself when I go.

I had the misfortune of having to live in NY for years because of my job (I finally escaped). I've had a theory for years that salt-air makes people goofy.

Although the NRA doesn't agree with the US gov't stockpiling theory, I have to agree that there is some truth to that. Probably doesn't apply to .22 though. I think what we are seeing is a classic hoarding mentality with fixed manufacturing output. Started with the true conspiracy people...supply dried up...when it did start to show up again, a few people bought more than they needed and the supply dried up again. And when it showed up again, a few more people started to buy more than they needed. You can see the progression...we now have a lot of people that are now sitting on more .22 ammo than they will ever use. I remember when we ran a grocery store and a big snow storm was coming..."bread and milk" wiped out by people that didn't eat much bread or drink much milk.
