Yesterday I started a thread about the lack of a work ethic in today's society, and because it appears OTHER members here chose to inject politics, my thread was moved and that limits access to members. My feelings are, if a member chooses to inject politics into a thread outside of the FP forum, THAT MEMBER should be warned and their posts removed instead of moving the thread. I put a lot of thought into composing that thread and feel it shouldn't have been moved because other members didn't follow the guidelines.

I was following your thread and since I do not subscribe to friendly politics I can not any more.

Problem with the discussion and the root causes unfortunately can easily drift to politics depending upon how broadly politics is defined and how one views the root causes.
Parents, schools, no one is a loser, everyone is a winner, entitlement society, I can go on for hours but a drift is bound to occur especially if politics is defined as how one views society and the role of big brother and such opinions and not just straight one political party vs the other party.

Try talking to anyone running a company today and the young generation and just trying to get them to show up for work on time. They don't get it. Not all of the new gen are that way but it is prevalent.

Somebody complained to the administrators.........unfortunately......and they can arbitrarily do what they want.....it is their forum. I thought your post was fine.....I guess I'll never be invited to be an administrator.

I didn't see the thread, but can easily see how there would be posts which would likely "go over the line." There are some people who can't seem to avoid making an immediate transition into vitriolic and poisonous comments of broad allegations, name calling with illogical connections and more name calling. It's always a judgement call, but I am personally glad that the moderators maintain a watchful eye and move threads which violate the guidelines.

As said, Not Our Sandbox, so not our rules....

I've held my breath on certain topics I've launched outside of FP, hoping they stayed in wider circulation - mostly I've been lucky. I know what you mean JD, some things deserve to be widely viewed, and it's frustrating to see them locked away in FP.

Realistically though, the Mods don't really have the personal bandwidth (time wise) to constantly police the kids at recess discretely.

FP is a reasonable compromise - people know that it's a rough place to hang out. The downside is that many thoughtful folks who do have great insights to contribute won't spend any time in FP.

Guess it's kind of like going on a bus tour, and ending up in a biker bar on the wrong side of town !

Life's like that, some days..... :confused3:

I agree. The OP has no control over subsequent posts.

Good Afternoon rekees4300,
AGREED !
I did post on that thread, and did use a quote from a previous poster. I went on to agree with what he had to say, and did use the word "vote" , but never mentioned any party or politicians name. I am sure anyone who read my post could understand what I was trying to say, but I never felt that the post crossed the line JMO. In any event, I am sorry that Bills' thread was moved, and am hopeful my comment didnt push it over the edge !

Thanks to all for the support....it's a loss for the CONTRIBUTING members here when the turds, oops, excuse me, TROLLS who contribute NOTHING positive in the forums cause issues by intentionally violating the rules....such members are obviously not intelligent enough to provide constructive input.
