I read a news story a while back that said the MI State police and other forces have this device in their cruisers that can read your phone while they follow you. They supposedly use it to see if you are texting while driving. As i recall it was a poorly written story and not much detail. the tip was to turn off your phone if you are being pulled over.

i was under the impression that if you were hands free.. texting in a vehicle was legal.

my phone reads me all incoming texts if I verbally allow it ( it asks ).. and then I have the option of not replying.. or voice replying.. then I can speak my text and send it.

all with eyes on the road and hands on the wheel with no more brain activity used as if I was talking to a passanger.

J_J, how come you haven't come up with a hydraulic powered phone yet ? Seems like you always have the right answer to everyone's questions about the subject ! :D
They make a hydraulic powered generators (Commercial_Mobile_Hydraulic_Generators), so all you would need would be a phone charger to have a hydraulic powered phone.
