Last week I had a branch come up and hold my throttle wide open.It scared the crap of me for fear of hurting the engine. The govenor is set at 3000 rpm and 540 pto is at 2450. I never run over 2500 rpm doing anything. I know heavy equiptment runs at full throttle all the time with no problems. Does any one operate their compact tractor at WOT.And if so what rpm is that.

I have a Ford 1910 (Same engine as your 1900 I think) and back when it had around 200 hours on it I drove it 12 miles round trip wide open to mow a friends pasture. It has 1200 hour now and still runs like new.

3,000 rpm certainly isn't very fast. Our 1983 Benz diesel is revved to about 4,300 rpm full throttle probably 60% of the time in 1st and 2nd gears. It's almost at 200,000 miles and still runs and looks like new. Would like to have more than its 65 hp though. WAITING for Benz to import another taxi-cab-spec diesel again to replace it.

I run my 4010 at new full throttle when running the PTO, as 540 rpm on the PTO is only about 150-200 rpm below full throttle.

You'll do far more damage to an engine by running it too slow rather than fast.

One NH dealer in WI for AG equipment routinely puts new equipment on a dyno and runs them near wide open under load before they deliver the tractor. All have less than 1 hour.

We just got a new NH TN60 at work. The guy that delivered it said they run them wide open for 2 hours before delivery to check for leaks, malfunctions, etc. It had about 2.6 hours on it when we got it.

I guess I'm just use to the trucks at work that only turn 2100 rpm. Maby I'm just gun shy, three weeks ago #6 rod let loose in my race car and all that I could salvage was the crank, heads and intake. I can't afford another explosion like that.

The dealer that I am picking my new tractor up at tomorrow runs them on a dyno also and sends them out the door with about 3 hours on the meter.

My manual makes a point of saying not to run at full rpm during the first 50 hours. I don't remember how well I followed that advice.

We rev all our turbodiesels up to 5,000 rpms every day and after 10years still no problems.

You might want to be more specific as to what your turbo diesels are...many (most?) turbo diesels are not going to survive a 5000 rpm hit. Some will (Mercedes, VW, ??) but others (Cat, Cummins, Detroit, Mack, etc.) won't.

A lot of that will depend on the displacement of each cylinder. Smaller pistons can fly up and down faster than bigger ones just like small people make better gymnasts than big ones.
