Wife got bit. ???

My wife got bit 3 days ago by something.??? It was in a quilt on the couch and it bit her on the thigh. We saw no spiders, scorpions or wasp. The bite immediately swelled to the size of a quarter and turned bright red. Now 72 hours later, the redness has expanded to a 3"-4" irregular shape with fingers and continues to expand. It is not painful to touch, and there is no black (necrotic) center. There is a pinpoint scab (very small) at the middle where the bite occurred. This does not look like the typical brown recluse spider bite, any ideals.

If you're not one, then go to the doctor asap

duh-h-h .... I'd ask your wife .......like I did a few weeks ago about the spot on my arm .... she is the nurse after all

......can't believe she hasn't taken it to the Dr already.....come on Karen ---- you're scaring the rest of us when a nurse is afraid to see the Dr.

Well, whatever it was it looks like it peaked at 72 hours and it is getting better. I just wish I knew what to look for? Thanks.

Don, That sounds like (from description)the same thing that got me earlier this year on the leg, Didn't see what got me but the spot got to be about 4" around and it didn't bother me so I didn't bother it and it was gone in less than a week which was good...
