Buying Advice Wife has no idea!

/ Wife has no idea! #12
Just inked up on a brand new L3700su today! Picking it up tommorrow. Took me almost 3 months to decide on making a purchase. 0 pct finance put me over the edge. This is my first tractor and I cant believe how excited I am. I have about 10 acres but hunt on 350 acres with some food plots that I will now be taking care of. I added cruise and a Land Pride 60 inch cutter. Stopped by the dealer today to see how the cruise install was coming and he had the whole rear end off to install the cruise. I think negotiating that into the price was a smart move. One mistake I may have made was the sales tax. UGH!!! 5% in Va! Looks like if I had bought it out of state and picked it up I could have avoided that extra grand! The dealer was super and I like supporting my local economy but that 1k would have felt better still in my wallet.:licking: I guess telling my wife could be my biggest hurdle yet! Any advise? She knows a Kubota is on the radar... I have taken by the dealer 2x and been leaving brochures laying all around the house.Even sent flowers to her work to wish her a happy Tuesday!!!! Guess we will see her reaction tomorrow when ALL that ORANGE is sittn in front of the house. By the way...anybody ever had to sleep on their Kubota???? Wish me luck!

what dealer ? where in va ?

TripleR,

Are you sure we aren't married to the same woman?

When I went to buy the tractor, the wife said go for it. Now I can't get her off it when we are working on our road. She operates the tractor and I operate the hand tools.

CKane, take the wife to the dealer and let her drive it and then tell her when it's going to be delivered. Just make sure the dealer knows what's going on, so they can help with the ploy.

Marc

We sure lucked out didn't we. When my wife and I got married, we lived in town and while we owned land rented it out. I had no idea how she would react to tractors and such. I went back into farming a few years later and although we quit long ago she loves living on a farm and tractors.

When I went shopping for a 30-40 HP tractor, she talked me into a 50 HP WITH CAB. "Her tractor" is the 2660, but will bush hog with the L5030 HSTC. So far she is cool to the idea of running the M8540 though I am going to get her to the point where she can at least move it.

My wife and I both were raised on farms but I chose a non farm profession. We have some acres that we rent out to a local farmer and keep the rest cleaned up and nice looking.. with almost 2 acres of yard and space around shop to keep up plus some pasture space that needs maintaining, our Gravelys were not keeping up. We needed something bigger and when I wanted to go looking, we had our budget in mind and she went with me. After seeing the smaller B/BX next to the used L3130 on the lot, she liked the L3130 and we ended up getting it. We haggled the price and even worked on pricing a new one to make sure we wanted the used one rather than a new one.

My wife is always involved on major financial decisions. We are debt free and will continue that way.

I'm pretty sure you didn't get anything over on your wife... she's smarter than you've been giving her credit for. ;)

Anyway congratulations!

Now on to the important business: PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! :p

It did hurt. She was joking about how big someone else's tractor was but still. Right to the bone !
