Wife spilled tea on laptop keyboard. Is it toast?

Wife spilled a lot of tea on my laptop keys. Four days later I still have to use touch screen to type.
Pushing the keys just types gobbledygook like this---- 02s3d.

Time for a new laptop? I want to buy one. Any other ideas, since I have none?
Maybe Kando could take a look at it?

Take the battery out and give it a good rinsing. Let it dry for a few days and try it. It'll either work or it won't but you need to get the sugar and sticky out.

I'm sure a 36" pipe wrench (Ridgid of course) forcefully applied will eliminate the problem.

Get a separate bluetooth keyboard and relegate that laptop (after cleaning) to emergency backup.

This. Take away power so the liquid doesnt create a short. Then let it dry for awhile. You really do need to take it apart and separate the keyboard if possible, but this is tough on a laptop. If you dont want to go to all of this trouble, then I agree just pick up a new one.

Maybe Kando can offer a suggestion as to what sort of wrench you need to take it apart.

I spilled Pepsi on my laptop and about 10 keys died. I bought a new keyboard part for the laptop and replaced the entire keyboard. Cost $20 and took 10 minutes. Check YouTube for a video for your specific laptop model. I found one for mine that took the person 5 minutes total.
