My 10 year old daughter drives the ride on now. She does our lawn, about 2-3 acres, our neighbours 1 acre and a friend's down the road - another acre. We live in an area that is becoming more and more filled with retired folks so there is good opportunity for her to make money in the summer to support her horse interest. She certainly gets the idea of business, money and work.

I hate to say it but my wife brings me coffee 98% of the mornings annually. She is the early riser and has it made before I can get my lazy (butt) out of bed. I do appreciate it and her - a lot - period! She grew up in the country, travelled widely(globally) moved up the ranks in job positions all by doing an honest job and going beyond what is asked of her. Her work ethic is the same at home and we actually work well together when we get that rare opportunity.

She also likes the comments on TBN too!

Sounds a lot like my family, and we contribute our kids work ethic to their interest in horses. We've always supported their choice of sport, their part was to care for them since they were 11 and 12 years old, which they did without hesitation. Our daughters now grade our riding arena, my wife actually does plow the drive and access to the stables.

My wife and family travelled with me for the first 25 years of my career, always starting at the bottom and working her way up, only to have to start all over again when it came time for us to move, so I know what you mean.

She'll make me a cup of coffee too, but she's not out of bed before me, mind you I'm usually in the shop by 05:00 when I'm home. We do a lot together, from milling lumber to building all of the outbuildings on our property.

All worth it, nothing like saddling up for our early Sunday morning trail ride in the Fall.

Are you SURE she did not break anything? That landscape rake looks a little bent...




Not to threadjack, but have you seen the Jake Rake built by one of our members?

Can you link me to the Jake Rake. I will take responsibility for the bent rake. When I first got it I tried to do something and bent it... and I am not telling you what that something was!
