My wife has been wanting a country barn wood type dinning room table. We had been looking at antique shops for several years and unable to find anything she liked and "new", on sale, tables were $1000.00. We bought unfinished chairs last year and I finished them a couple of months ago so it was time to make a decision on the table.
I have been working with wood since I was 12 years old. I have a lot of equipment stored at my Dads garage and just need to get my workshop built. However she wanted a table now
So I go to her dads old home place that we now own and get some 100 year old pine floor boards for the top and found some old porch post in the barn for the legs. So with a hand plane, miter saw, and sander I made the table below.
My biggest problem was not to make it perfect. I am used to making Queen Anne type furniture so the antique look was a little challenge. I may post some pictures later of those projects.
The table has the square nail holes and some dents, saw marks, etc. and she loves it. So thats all that matters
Total cost $70.00...plywood to attached the boards to, stain, and poly.
Wifes approval...priceless:laughing:
I guess I need to set the date on my camera...it says 2004 but I just made it and took the picture 1/08/12:confused3:
