I would like that property wide WIFI. But it's also this. I just had new Internet installed today. They may be interested in my tower. The installer said, if they put an access point on the tower, they may knock off five bucks a month. Excuse me? Did I hear right? At ten new customers, you get free Internet. So (always thinking ahead) before the ten is reached, I thought maybe to ask them for something else, if it's possible. So I am researching what the technical possibilities are. As far as bandwidth, I wouldn't be using any more at the shack than I use at the house. I would even agree to pay for some of the hardware.

I take it you get wireless internet access to your place via an antenna that's up on an 80' tower?

A wire comes down the tower from that antenna and goes to your house?

You want to be able to have internet access at your shack about 2500' away from the tower?

And you want to have internet access all over your 100 acres?

Is that correct?

Do you have good cell service at your place?

That is correct. The Eithernet gets converted to 500 feet RG6 coax (3GHZ bandwidth) back to the house and to Eithernet again. Yes, I have a new BELL Cell tower within eyesight. I am on it with my phone.

Not that it helps the technical issues. But I like pictures and some context is always good.

Tower, and what my Lady friend calls "the Chicken Snack Shack" No idea why.

Very intriguing Thanks. Curious on the cost. How is it for vegetation. What band?

The hub2n was about $300 I think. They have it on amazon. Very simple set up. The owner of the company is very helpful. I talked to him a few times, mainly regarding shipping. They sent it out requiring a signature and I would never be home when ups delivers.

But you start with the hub2n then you can add on extenders. I think each extender is less than $200. Instead of getting the extenders I think I'm going to get their mobile hub to attach to the tractor so I can basically choose where I want the signal to go. As I clear more land I know that I will run out of range on the single hub.

Did you install it yourself? Easy? I spent a good six hours today with various tech support people trying to get an Engenius IP camera up and going to no avail. I was asked "is there anybody else there" and "how about a teenager?".

It is really easy. Basically you take an Ethernet cable from your router to a power box then another cable to the antenna. Register it on their website and you're up and running with a half mile line of site range. Trees and hills will decrease the distance. It was something like 15 minutes to set up. The already have it configured.
