Thanks for the suggestions. At some point I plan to dig a trench and run a second power circuit to the pump house and will put a couple of Cat6e cables in too. I'll use conduit as I did to the barn. I suspect I'll still be close to the 300' limit and may, at some point, have to add a booster/extender (for the barn too).
I read this power line adapter review - Best power-line adapters of 2014 - CNET - before I purchased the inexpensive TrendNet model. They are working well at the barn for now. I may try one of the higher rated models for the pump house. I think in the right circumstances, power line adapters can be a good solution.
After the holidays, I'll probably try the Ubiquiti Nano when I can replenish the now much depleted gadget fund.
