New Holland TC40DA
I just purchased a King-Kutter 400 cone style fertilizer/grass spreader and am now wondering if I have enough weight on the front of the tractor. I have a New Holland TC40DA with 180 lbs of front end weights. I live about a half mile from the fertilizer plant and would like to drive the tractor and spreader over there and have them fill the spreader from their bulk bins instead of buying it in bags because it is almost a $1.00 a pound cheaper in bulk.
So here is the question. Will my TC40DA with 180 lbs of weight on the front keep the front axle on the ground with the hopper full of 800 lbs of fertilizer?

It can only hold 400lbs of fertilizer in it right? You should be fine.

$1/pound cheaper? What kind of bagged stuff are you looking at? I buy 50lbs bags of 19-19-19 for like $22/bag.

You should be okay on a smooth road, if it is bumpy I would add another 150 lbs.

If you are getting $1 off /lb sounds like they are giving it to you. I pay about $1.10-1.25 /lb for Scotts products in bags. Wish there was a plant near enough to buy in bulk.
