Will it fit on my trailer?

/ Will it fit on my trailer? #11
When I brought my new L2800 home last week on a 16ft pipe trailer I had the bucket curled on the ft pipe and the BH was just barely hanging over the end.
I know if I were to trailer my L2800 on a fairly regular basis I would be in the market for a 20 footer.

Well, I picked up my L3400 today... ended up putting the BB on the front of the trailer, then pulling the tractor on and putting the bucket over the top of the BB. It fit well this way, and the weight distribution was perfect... just not too convenient to have to take the BB on and off.

After finishing at my first job, I backed the tractor (with BB) onto the trailer and lifted the BB over the front rail about 1' forward. The tractor and FEL then fit on the trailer with the tailgate up... problem was that it was a little tongue heavy this way. I think I am going to try to back the tractor on, put the BB on the floor as far forward as it can go, put the FEL bucket up high, put the tailgate up, and then curl the bucket down tight on top of the tailgate (only 4' high). This should make the weight distribution about right, and it shouldn/t be too top heavy with the bucket up only 4'... especially since I will have the FEL strapped down as well as the tractor chained on all 4 corners. I will let you know how it works!

Bottom line, before too long I think I will be shopping for a 16 or 18 foot trailer.

Good idea...

Can't say enough good things about the H&H SpeedLoader MX I picked up for my 3130. It wasn't a heck of a lot more expensive than a non-tilting trailer, and it makes loading/unloading a snap. Very well built.

They make an electric tilt, but I can't see the need for it...unloading, you just open the valve and back off. Tilting it up for loading using the hand pump takes under a minute...

(Manual tilt carhaulers are also available, starting at $2295.00 F.O.B. factory)

This was on the web site for a local california dealer which would be great if it was not a 1000+ miles away /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I paid about $2800 for my 20' 10K, but...that was a pretty good deal. Found a dealer that needed to move some inventory, and he had a 2004 model that he bought before the steel and fuel prices went way up.

Based on comparable non-tilt trailers I was looking at at the time, the SpeedLoader MX was anywhere from $100-400 more. Worth every penny...

Best bet is to download their whole catalog - link is HERE. Shows all options and prices, but you'll need to add delivery depending on where in the country you are. To the west coast, that was around $500 when I checked earlier this year.

My only very minor nit with the tralier - the receiver for the handle on the hydraulic pump faces up, and when it rains, it fills with water. Ignored, it would rust out in a hurry. Simple fix - I just drilled a small hole through the bottom of it to let the water drain.

About a year and a half ago I bought a 16 ft. tandam axle trailer with a lift gate, knowing, I was going to get a tractor at a date down the road. Well, I got my B3030 3 weeks ago. With the FEL and the 5' rotary cutter on back, it was 20' long. I sold the trailer for more than I paid and bought a tandam axle, 2 brakes, with 2' dovetail and ramps that store underneath. It is a stronger trailer than the one I got rid of. I have room to stick off the back if I need to. I didn't want to have to "hang over" or do something special to load, I just wanted to drive it on and go.
