I liked Sears for many things years ago but, that has changed. The US made mechanic tools are OK, that's about it for me. Power tools are poor IMO, my Craftsman Tiller is poorly designed, never felt the riding mowers were worth the trouble. The air compressors have gone way down in quality also. Its a shame.
I bought a X-series JD last year and its been solid so far, my first JD. I always liked Cub Cadet but, the new lawn tractors are really just box store specials. But, even with JD you get riders with non-serviceable trans axles. At least they have the X310, X360 and X500's with trans axles that have filters and drain plugs! Love having a deck you can actually take on and off easily too. Just expensive, they don't give them away by any means. I rather have quality stuff for 20 years or more than a cheap mower every few years though.
