I have Bx1860, alright I agree when it comes to yard and tractor not so smart :p. I saw this land rake with large metal claws. I was wondering how this land rake helps, will it tear the yard and grass - (I hope it shouldnot), see lot of times there is lot of sticks, leaves and debri on the grass in the backyard especially spring and fall. Can I use land rake to clean the yard or will I mess up my grass

Thanks for saying "how dumb" :ashamed: but please clarify me

Hard to say exactly what you were looking at, but most rakes are meant for dirt and rock, not grass. While it is possible to set a rock rake to skim the grass, especially with gauge wheels, it doesn't really work all that well and will indeed rip up your lawn if it digs in. I use mine to dress my dirt & gravel drive after using a box blade. I also use it in the woods to clean up the post-winter mess.

What do you mean by "land rake" ?

When you say large metal claws, I get a different picture in my mind from a landscape rake. There are numerous styles, and just having a pic or a link to what you are looking at will help answer your question.

That you call it "grass" and not "lawn" suggests to me that you aren't worrying too much about having a bowling green perfect surface.
Yes, it will scratch it up a bit, but if you set your top link right it will be fine for raking up leaves and such - your "grass" will recover, a putting green would take a while to heal.

I use a rake with a handle on it (don't tell anyone) for the larger stuff, but I do most of my raking / spring clean up with a tow behind dethatcher. It gets the dead grass, and small branches pretty well though I sometimes do have to stop, and clean it out. After I go over the yard with that I install my grass collector, and just pick up all the mess that way. The dethatcher will pull it out, but not rake it into nice rows........... too bad.

Ditto - I think a 48" or larger dethatcher is what you need. I do as ChuckinNH does. Much faster than raking by hand, but maybe not quite as thorough.

I tried my rake on the grass this spring and was happy with the results. I put my gauge wheels all the way down and shortened my top link. I was able to rake up alot of the pine cones and sticks. It did ruffle about an inch of soil in places, but that disappeared when I rolled the lawn. I would not try this on a fine lawn, but it worked well for my country yard.

Are you thinking of a dethatcher:

Agri-Fab 48" Tine Dethatcher

You can also find cheaper/smaller ones at Northern Tool, Home Depot, and other places. JD makes some of these & the item below as well.

Some people use a lawn sweeper:

Agri-Fab 46" Tow Behind Lawn Sweeper

Some lawn sweepers can take a dethatcher that mounts to the sweeper:

Agri-Fab Dethatcher Attachment for Sweeper

Now this is getting away from the dethatcher/rake, but Kubota does make a bagger for the MMM mowers.

Below is a towable vac connected to a BX:
