will this loader valve work

I didn't see where it was open center, but if it is, absolutely it will work. IIRC I got the Prince version with the same specs when I built mine.

Yes, it will work just fine. You may need the PB plug depending on how you intend to plumb it to your machine.

Surplus Center sells it also, but just raised prices: 9-7401

Thanks blackd and kennyd!!! I am not forsure if it is open center or not. It just said loader valve so I figured it would work. Also I am not forsure what the Power beyond actually does. I was planning on hooking straight up to the pressure side line coming out of the hydraulic pump and into the "in" side of the valve and then the output line of the valve back to the other part of the original pressure hydraulic line that goes back to the rest of the tractor will that work?

The "ideal" way to plumb it is with "power beyond" Plenty of threads in the hydraulics forum about it...The valve is OC (open center).

But here it is in a nutshell:

-From the pump OUT (pressure) to the loader valves IN port
-From the loader valves PB (power beyond) port to the 3PH-basically where the pump line goes to know.
-From the T (tank) or OUT port of the loader valve to the sump (there are usually extra ports on transmission to do this)

Both your's and Kennyd's approaches will work. If KennyD says it is open center I would be satisfied.

The loader valve at Northern Tool is Brand #PLV22TSTKAB shipping weight 7 lbs. The only option referenced is a re-seal kit.

Surplus Center: looks the same, but Brand #LV22RFSTKAB, shipping weight 14 lbs. Linked options are PB kit and Closed Center kit.

Same thing? Does SS's version need one of the kits to equal NT's?

Edited Post: Responding to kennyd's comment below, I amended this post to more accurately say what SS has on their website.

Cali, read the SS page again: The valve is OC, the "options" are a PB plug, and a CC (closed center) plug. No idea about the shipping weight, but 14lbs seems more realistic for a cast iron valve.

kennyd, that reduces my confusion a little. Thanks! Note I corrected my post above.

Yes, I agree 14 lbs sounds more realistic.

Ok, moving on and further displaying my ignorance of hydraulics :) - are either/both suitable replacements for my present loader valve? It is plumbed in series between the pump and the three point lift cylinder, with no sump hose. Would I need to also buy one of the options?

Yes, It would be fine in that configuration. You would NOT the the PB or CC options.

kennyd, thanks!

The reason to replace my 30 year old, two-handle loader valve is because 'curl' leaks down. Lifting the 650 lb tank in this post, you could see the bucket curl forward. And the control valve drips slightly under extreme load like in that picture.

I wonder if I could save the old valve, plumb it in series beyond the new valve, and use it for two remotes?
