Wow, kind of pricey, but all good vises are.....

I recently bought a Wilton 600S 6 inch vise w/swivel base for our shop at work.
It was over $1000 new. If you find a 6" vise in good working condition maybe minus
some paint and a little rust but otherwise usable for $200 I would jump on it.

You can do a lot of cleaning/repair for a hundred bucks and still be way ahead on cost.

Most parts are available for Wiltons, and they are still made in the US AFAIK.

Most shop trucks have a vice like this on them. At least on the jobsites I get around. You want to get your check quickly take a grinder and blast hot sparks all over someones truck. Seen it happen.

Nope, made in China. Wilton and Yost are the only two companies that still make vises in the U.S. that I'm aware of, but both have multiple lines, made in various places....usually China for the cheap models, Taiwan for the mid-level, and U.S. for their top models.

I don't think you can get a 6" vise from Wilton made in the U.S. for less than probably $500. I bought a Yost 8" multi purpose, reversible vise about two years ago, and it was right around $400, and was made here in Michigan.

Your Wilton 450s are now around $800!

I bought the 2 450s around 10 years back, NIB for $200 a piece, it was highway robbery even then. :cool2: I'd say my kids will be passing them to my grand kids some day.
