Winch for 22' (16' tilt - 6' stationary) trailer

I addressed the use of a roller in my first post. You can't do that. If the winch is on the stationary platform and the cable goes over the tilt bed, roller or pipe, then attaches to a load when it pulls it is going to pull the bed down before the load even begins to move.

After looking today I'm probably just going to mount the winch on the tilt bed and make it easily removable because I would have to mount the winch on the tongue too high to be acceptable...I think - jury is still out.

Please post your progress, I have the same/similar trailer and have procrastinated on the winch because of these challenges. A second mod needed is that my beavertail has the center missing so loading my (3-wheel) Navigator and an old three wheel forktruck we have is a PIA. Need to permanently fill in the center or maybe a hinged plate that folds into position.

Why not make 2 recess receiver hitches, mount one on tilt and the other on the front of the deck? Kind of like a goose hitch ball style. Then make a L-shape bracket out of receiver tubing to permanently mount the winch to then you could move the winch whenever needed and not have to leave your winch on your tilt deck to get damaged. It would be a pretty easy process I think and nothing sticking up on your deck either. Just a thought.

I am also looking for a solution. I have the same type tilt trailer. Not a pitch, but this may be a solution. Northern Tool sells a winch that is attached to chains that allow the winch to sit further back on the trailer. There are pictures on the Northern Tool website. The winch is the "WARN 12 Volt DC Powered Electric Utility Winch 2000-Lb. Capacity, Galvanized Steel Rope, Model# 92000". I'm not sure the picture will show up, but you can google the product and see the second and third images with the guy winching up his car on the trailer.

Old thread, but I am considering selling my 18' beaver tail equipment trailer and buying a Kaufman 20' Tilt deck 14'+6':

Any resolution to the issue other than a winch pedestal?
