Where did summer go? Did it ever come? I think they got all of our New England summer down in Texas..., all I got was rain and cool weather here....yesterday, I was goung to take a dip in the pool, but changed my mind and built a fire instead...

38 degrees with 10 mph north wind here in west central Vt.. Reports of scattered frost in northern parts of the state. Last Saturday it was just over 90 on my home thermometer. Late that day I wandered into the VFW to get out of the heat and ran into some folks that were up from Houston for a funeral. They were holding a classic Irish wake and enjoying the cool weather. One gentleman asked the bartender for a Shiner Bock, which she ,of course, had not heard of. Gave me the chance to say [ in a friendly manner] "Y'all ain't from around here, are ya". Real nice people, just wish they hadn't played "God Bless Texas" over and over cause now I can't get it out of my head.

Yeah no kidding! Yesterday at about noon it was 85 and sunny, by the evening it was 38! Talk about temperature swing... I was waiting for the snow! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Officially 111 yesterday for the hottest ever this late in the year and 4th hottest ever anytime. 113 in 1980 was the record. But the "cold front" that came through kept it down to only 99-105 today. Frost? What's that, besides the name of the town my mail comes from?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

That's some kinda heat. Whew!

I used to live in AZ, and one time we had 30 CONSECUTIVE days when the tempature didn't get below 100, at NITE! So, consider yourself lucky /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

BobT, I spent January of '90 around Tucson and February around Phoenix. Thoroughly enjoyed it. August of '94 around Duncan wasn't quite as nice, but still not bad. I don't think I'd want to be out there in the middle of the state in the summer, though.
