windmill

I've been on several windmill farms, in several locations, multiple times. They do make SOME sound, but they're not really loud. A lot depends on how big the blades are and how tall the towers are.

They can sure spoil a skyline, though.

As for them being green.... Take away the tax credits, and very few would be left. They simply don't make economic sense.

An interesting statement that might be well suited for a political forum.

Sounds like NY State is getting its act together. Its been said that a wise man does the right thing before everyone else and a fool does the same thing when its too late.

NY has a percentage of power legal requirement within a few years. Niagara Falls is a huge natural contribution, but given the number of cloudy days, solar isn't helpful, that pretty much leaves wind to get the rest of the way. There are several comapnies chasing multiple projects in NY, so it makes financial sense to somebody. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
They have some town meetings coming up soon, hopefully that will start some real flow of information.

The only issue that I have heard of associated with windmills is the number of birds that are injured or killed by the blades. I do not know if this a fact but I remember hearing about it on the news when I lived in Northern California.
I lived about 30 miles from a large wind farm and frequently visited them with my children. I do not recall any noise. Farwell
