First, apologies of getting off the topic.
hvac1, I agree with you 110%.
Some time ago up north, I was all to familiar with Sears HVAC "work" and never could understand how the Sears salesman could sell a job and not have the HVAC subcontractor know how the job was laid out until he got to the job (at the time, the Sears salesman didn't work for the subcontractor, we worked for Sears).
I also couldn't/can't understand that if an HVAC contractor does a good job and keep his customers satisfied, and gains business, how he (HVAC contractor) could have the time to do the work for Sears.
Thinking about it, at that time, all the "Kenmore" HVAC equipment was actually either Tempstar or Heil, not sure what they are private lableing now, other than also offering the Carrier line (last I heard, could be wrong on that now as well).
Keep in mind, you also have a "new" (although been done for a while now) with Trane contractors selling Trane equipment out of the Home Depot.
You also have that aquisition (sp?) some time ago with Home depot buying out that HVAC distributor in the Atlanta area (forgot that companys name) which seems to be doing well, although I haven't seen them (Home depot) do it futher (sp?) "up north".
Keep in mind that you can also buy refrigerant bearing equipment online, but what I would like to know is who is the CFC certified person doing the instaltion (I'm not talking about those pre-charge quick connect systems).
My point was that if Haier (sp?) tried to enter the U.S marketplace by selling "residential" hvac equipment to the HVAC contractors, they may face a "backlash" from the HVAC contractors for selling their (Haier) product in Walmart.
I also don't at this point know what Haiers (sp?) long term strategy (sp) is in the U.S marketplace.
As mentioned, when in Columbia, working with a hvac contractor, he mentioned Haier and mentioned to me that they were VERY inexpensive units, could put Goodman to "shame" and that they were moving a facility to Columbia and going after the U.S market "hot and heavy".
How true any of this is, I don't know.
